Powerhouse Theatre expands to Bradford and Sheffield with call for creative talent

Following a successful debut in Wakefield earlier this year, youth theatre company Powerhouse is set to expand to Bradford and Sheffield in 2026 — and is now on the lookout for creative professionals to lead the next wave of bold, youth-led musical theatre across Yorkshire.

Powerhouse was launched by Andrew Ashley and Andy Fretwell, the experienced theatre-makers behind Diva Productions. Known for staging high-quality work across the region — including a national tour and a West End debut in 2024 — the pair created Powerhouse as a fresh, ambitious platform for young performers aged 11–19.

Following the sold-out success of their Les Misérables: School Edition in July 2025 and their upcoming production of Six, Powerhouse is preparing for its next chapter. The company is now accepting applications for Directors, Musical Directors, and Choreographers to collaborate on its upcoming productions in both cities.

Creating opportunities for Yorkshire’s young performers

Each new branch will offer the same standard of professional-level training, creative collaboration, and inspiring rehearsal environment that Powerhouse Wakefield has become known for. Participants will work with established creatives on large-scale musicals, giving young performers the chance to develop skills, build confidence, and experience the process of creating high-quality theatre from the ground up.
