Lovely little museum! I've been past here a million times and I've lived in castleford and I never knew this place existed! Small but interesting and quiet museum situated on the second floor of the library. Free entry and activities for children

Me and my friends thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum that we definitely found accessible, using a sign by the entrance to know the correct floor that we rose up to in an elevator! A lot of the exhibits are focused on Castleford, which felt refreshing since most museums aren't really centered around their town or city. The historic displays are marvellous and the pictures give a powerful delve into history, similarly to how the items represent Castleford trade well! A theatre collection from Keith makes for a nice addition and I spoke to the staff a few times, finding them to be patient and approachable.

I love visiting this small museum, I visited today to show some possible roman beads I have found and I spoke to Jade who was very helpful with my enquiry, she also sent information to the museum curator for further assessment for me.It is a shame they aren't housed somewhere bigger though as I think castleford needs a larger museum with so much history packed into it! I do also think that castleford museum would benefit from a Facebook page also so local people who maybe don't get to travel can see what is there and also to have an interactive chat section with a curator if they think they have found items of significance, I for one would love that,I loved on Facebook but couldn't find one unfortunately. I know a few people who would enjoy that plus it may get the museum a little more publicity because it is so understated its a shame for it to be overlooked!
