Assistant Management Accountant
<p>This one of those roles that sounds "junior" on paper but actually sits right in the middle of how the finance function runs day to day.</p> <p>If you like structured work, tidy reconciliations, and understanding how numbers actually move through a business, you'll probably enjoy it. If you prefer everything pre-packaged and predictable, less so.</p> <p>You'll support the Finance Director and wider team across transactional finance, payroll, and management accounting - with a genuine mix of doing and learning.</p> <p><strong>You'll be:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Processing purchase invoices (including PO matching), managing supplier accounts, queries, and payments</li><li>Maintaining and reconciling accounts payable and receivable, including inbox management and aged balances</li><li>Processing weekly and monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy of inputs and handling employee queries</li><li>Supporting month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations</li><li>Assisting with management accounts preparation, reporting packs, and KPI reporting</li><li>Carrying out variance analysis and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting</li><li>Maintaining the fixed asset register</li><li>Supporting year-end processes, audit requests, and R&D submissions</li><li>Providing ad hoc analysis and supporting process improvements</li><li>Maintaining accurate financial records within the accounting system</li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>What do you need?</strong></p> <ul> <li>AAT qualified, part-qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA, or qualified by experience</li><li>Experience in a finance/accounts role, ideally with some exposure to management accounts</li><li>Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots, comfortable with data)</li><li>Payroll experience is useful but not essential</li><li>Accurate, organised, and able to manage deadlines</li><li>Comfortable communicating with finance and non-finance colleagues</li><li>Proactive and keen to develop</li></ul> <p><br /></p> <p><strong>What's in it for you?</strong></p> <ul> <li>An annual salary of up to £35k (depending on experience)</li><li>Study support</li><li>Hybrid working</li><li>25 days annual leave + bank holidays</li></ul> <p>If you want exposure to the full finance cycle rather than a narrow slice of it, this should suit you, click "apply now".</p> <p><br /></p>
