Shabby hotel, with well meaning but incompetent staff - there are lots of hotel options in Harrogate so avoid this one. Booked 2 rooms for family over Christmas break. On arrival that afternoon found 1 of our rooms was already checked in by another person who the hotel thought was one us! Hotel had lost record of who had checked in where and had to send staff to the room to check if it was occupied, it was, so we had to wait till the late evening to get our 2nd room. One of our rooms was not habitatable. Both ceiling lights were broken, one was in bits in the room's only draw. Toilet did not flush. Staff told me maintenance would fix this but didn't know when maintenance were available. Saturday night staff said maintenance would fix in morning, one Sunday morning staff said maintenance didn't work on Sundays while another staff said maintenance where at another hotel. We were moved to another room which had a working toilet but only one working ceiling light, the room's desk was also damaged where the laminate was torn off exposing the MDF. Both of our rooms were shabby, black mould present in both bathrooms, probably due to the bathroom vents being completely gunked up with damp dust. Walls were dirty and dusty. I've used other Premier Inn's across the country and found them to be clean, efficient and comfortable hotels. It's a shame this experience has poisoned the brand for me. 1 star for the hotel, 2 for the service as the staff were trying their best but were overstretched and unempowered. Can't fault the location.

Room was tatty and needed a facelift. Carpet had not been hoovered (corridor outside room also). No hairdryer in room (as stated in room info on website). No menu or any other info sheets in room. Only one set of towels, had to go down to reception to get more. Bathroom ceiling light not working, only had lights behind basin. Not many staff visible, those that were around were friendly and helpful though. Piles of dirty linen left in corridor. Restaurant only offered an extremely limited menu for evening meal, sat down and waited to be served …. and waited! Gave up, left, no staff visible, went into town to eat. Car park is expensive (£20.00 for 24hrs), you would think Premier Inn would have negotiated a discount! Altogether a huge disappointment and will go Travelodge next time.

I honestly feel bad for the staff. Premier inn have obviously given up on this location and left it to rot. Staffed minimally to keep it somewhat running but obviously not enough to actually adress the problems. Of which there area many... -When it's windy and you're on the 5th floor, good luck getting ANY sleep because something on the roof will creak very loudly every 30 seconds. We had to move to a different room in the middle of the night. -The place is not clean. -Elevator broken. -Bathrooms are rundown. Might be a fine place to go slip into a coma after a rough night out, but of you're looking for somewhere comfortable to rest, keep looking...

On arrival there was a few problems with our booking in even though I had already booked and paid in full. The staff were fantastic sorted it out with any fuss and apologised. The room was very clean the service from all the staff was outstanding. Breakfast every morning was the best I have had out of all the premier inn that I have stayed in. Location could not have been better 6 minute walk to town centre. Thank you to all the staff for making our 3 day visit to Yorkshire extra special.

We stayed here as a family for a little over a week last month and I have nothing but good things to say. The room was clean and spacious with a gorgeous view, the beds were comfy, the breakfast area was very pleasant and breakfast itself nice. The walk to and from town is a pleasure, especially in the late evening just as the sun is starting to set! Every member of staff we encountered was an absolute credit to the company, all incredibly helpful and good-natured and we were really impressed by the general levels of professionalism. We look back so fondly on our stay already. A lovely Premier Inn.
