During the week of August 18–19, 2025, Coldplay will bring their spectacular shows to Yorkshire, performing at Hull’s Craven Park Stadium.

But beyond the stunning light displays and chart‑topping hits, there’s a powerful message behind these concerts. Coldplay is committed to giving back to the grassroots music scene that nurtured their rise—supporting small venues and local communities along the way.

Many artists, including Coldplay, started out playing in small, local venues. These grassroots spaces are essential incubators for new talent—places where artists write songs, hone their craft, and connect face-to-face with audiences. Coldplay’s Yorkshire dates demonstrate their dedication not just to spectacular stadium shows, but also to the broader ecosystem that makes live music so vital.

Why are these small venues so important?

Before Coldplay topped stadium charts, they played in tiny venues across the UK—spaces that helped launch their journey. Supporting grassroots venues helps preserve the very places that foster the next generation of talent. Without these local stages, the future of live music in Yorkshire—and across the UK—could face significant challenges. Coldplay recognizes this, which is why part of their tour proceeds will support grassroots venues right here in Yorkshire.

What’s Coldplay doing to support local venues?

As part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, Coldplay will give 10% of the proceeds from their Hull and Wembley shows to the Music Venue Trust, a charity dedicated to saving and supporting small venues.

Moreover, concert promoters, the band’s booking agents, venues, and ticketing platforms are also contributing, creating a collective effort to protect the UK’s live‑music infrastructure.

Where does the money go?

The funds will be invested directly into projects run by Music Venue Trust. This includes emergency grants for venues facing closure, touring support for emerging artists, and efforts to buy and secure live music venues permanently. For Yorkshire, this means local venues that might otherwise be at risk could receive vital support, ensuring live music continues to thrive in years to come.
