Welcome to Yorkshire
A Yorkshire Wolds brewery has recently introduced the first in a series of four seasonal ales, aiming to delight beer enthusiasts across the region. Wold Top Brewery, known for its locally crafted beers, has launched the Alpine Pale as the spring and summer edition, available exclusively in selected Asda stores throughout Yorkshire and the north of England.
New Seasonal Brews
Wold Top Brewery's Managing Director, Kate Balchin, shared insights into the inspiration behind this new product line. While discussing range changes with a buyer from Asda , the idea of creating a seasonal beer with a consistent alcohol by volume (ABV) stood out. Balchin explained,
“We were speaking to the buyer at Asda about range changes, and they mentioned that a new, seasonal beer, with the same ABV for each one, would be a great addition to their range, so this is what we've done!”
This approach allows customers to enjoy a variety of seasonal beers without having to worry about fluctuating alcohol levels. The Alpine Pale, which boasts an ABV of 4.6%, is gluten-free and vegan-friendly, making it accessible to a wider audience.
Flavours of the Alps
The Alpine Pale is a fresh, pale ale that showcases the unique flavours brought out by different hops sourced from various regions. According to Balchin, the recipe focuses on the distinct characteristics imparted by these hops. The use of European hops in the Alpine Pale offers soft floral notes, a gentle spice, and a clean, refreshing finish—perfect for the warmer months. Later in the year, Wold Top Brewery plans to release additional seasonal beers featuring British, American, and New Zealand hops, each with its own unique flavour profile. This strategy not only caters to diverse tastes but also keeps the offerings exciting for customers throughout the year.
