WELCOME TO THE DEN AT HUSTHWAITE GATE We are a small family run holiday business set on the former Husthwaite Gate Railway site, nestled below the Hambleton Hills with a beautiful view of the White Horse. We have a small exclusive site, which is available as a single rental, particularly well suited for extended families or groups who have the whole site to themselves. The site offers a peaceful haven in the countryside, ideal for walkers, cyclists or families looking to use it as a base to explore the surrounding area. ABOUT US Our philosophy at The Den is to reuse and recycle where possible. Green electricity is generated from our on-site wind turbine. Much of the wood used in the construction of building was obtained from our local village hall which was demolished in order to build a new hall. Even our outdoor shower and toilet was once the original porch of the Station Masters house. We try to keep as local as possible - our logs are sourced from a local supplier with a sustainable timber source and The Den has a heat recovery system in place.  We aim to keep The Dens carbon footprint to a minimum. We aim to make your stay at The Den as comfortable as possible. If you have any specific requirements  have missed, please contact us prior to booking and we will try to assist. The Den has 3 Kingsize bed pods, so comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. Extended family groups who wish to camp as well as use The Den, we have a grassed area, which can accommodate 3 small grass pitches. Please contact us prior to booking if your party exceeds 6. The Den is hired as a single rental, with a minimum of a 3 night stay. Please ensure that you have checked out by 10am on the day of departure. So that we can clean The Den for our guests.  We ask that the earliest arrival time of guests is 4pm. We have parking for a maximum of 3 vehicles. HUSTHWAITE GATE HONESTY SHOP We also have a small honesty shop/reception within our grounds, which offers a serve yourself hot/cold refreshments, a selection of snacks/chocolate, pick and mix sweets and range of ice creams. THE AREA There is plenty to see and do in the area, we have lived here for many years and are happy to point you towards local facilities or further afield. Our shop also has leaflets for many local destinations. Our local village (Husthwaite) has free Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) which includes a playpark for toddlers and older children, outdoor gym facilities and tennis court. There are also many excellent eating establishments a short distance from The Den - such as the Carlton Inn in Carlton Husthwaite, or The Durham Ox in Crayke. If Michelin Star dining is your thing, approximately 4 miles away there is The Black Swan at Olstead, recently voted the best restaurant in the world. HOT TUB To make your stay with us even more relaxing, spend a little time looking up at the stars from our wood-fired hot tub It really is a great way to take away the stresses and strains of modern living, it is eco-friendly, easy to light and has lovely views over the fields. Its large enough to share, for up to six (2.1 metre diameter) or you can stretch out and enjoy it all to yourself. Wood is available from the honesty shop on site and you will find full instructions of what to do in The Den.
