Wouldn't recommend. Run down pub. Although rooms are clean enough. Shared bathroom looked like it’s never been cleaned , pee all over toilet seat floor and wall. No soap in the bathroom either. Shared kitchen a bit run down, fridge also looked like it’s never been cleaned before. Unfortunately was not made aware that they would do very loud kareoke for over three hours until early hours of morning. Luckily was only staying for one night.

Totally grotty, very run down pub with the shabbiest accommodation I have seen in years. Room stank of stale sweat even with the window open for hours. Shared bathroom was dire (with communal sponge in the shower — wouldn't touch it with a bargepole). Room door very hard to open (needed shoving or kicking) and the lock was very fiddly. All in a crummy part of town that I wouldn't have set foot in (especially as a solo female traveller) if I'd known any of this before I booked. At least it was cheap (under £42 for one night), but still a total waste of money. DO NOT WASTE YOURS — avoid this place like the plague.

I loved staying at the Kings Head. It’s my sort of place. Friendly. Functional. Clean and comfortable. Fantastic value with a Brontë Bus stop right outside. Easy access with electronic passes (fob) to come and go as you like. Short stroll into town and fantastic Harvey’s next door for breakfast.

First the positive: The room was nice and big, overall seemed pretty clean. We had a big TV that worked well. The staff were pretty friendly. The area itself is quite run down. It’s a noisy busy street, during the day but also at night, but that’s often a problem with town pubs. Now the negative : Let’s put it this way, did I feel safe? Not really. But did anything bad happen? No. The first day we arrived there was a strong smell of “illegal substances” in the hall way. Probably one of the other guests. The second night we stayed was karaoke night. Be warned, they go hard and they sing loud. If you don’t mind the noise, the slightly dirty bathroom and the possibility of coming in contact with slightly odd guests, then this place really isn’t that bad. Maybe don’t bring your kids… There’s a small place to park behind which could get a bit cramped, but it’s better than parking on the street.

Booked this with a female friend, both of us in our early 20s. Left without staying the night and booked into the local Travelodge. Everything about it felt unsafe and creepy. When we arrived the bar was full of older men who stared, and the woman who worked there commented to one of them "THEY'RE staying here tonight," in a certain tone of voice, giving implications I really didn't like. Had an encounter upstairs in the accomodation too with a man knocking on our door aggressively after I accidentally tried his door when I'd been looking for the shared kitchen. I'm not particular about where I sleep and I've slept in places that looked far worse, but I didn't feel safe staying here.
