Welcome to Yorkshire

|Today marks an exciting day for food lovers across the UK as Tortilla launches its new Summer Edit, featuring a unique twist on the classic Caesar salad. Contrary to popular belief, the Caesar salad actually has its roots in Tijuana, Mexico, where it was created by restaurateur Caesar Cardini in 1924. This beloved dish has been reimagined by Tortilla, combining traditional ingredients with a distinctly Californian flair.
Tortilla's New Offerings
The new menu includes the Cali Caesar Wrap and the Cali Caesar Salad, both designed to celebrate the flavours of summer. These dishes feature a mouth-watering mix of ingredients:
Asado chicken: A type of grilled chicken that adds a smoky flavour.
Smoky chorizo: A spicy sausage that brings a kick to the meal.
Monterey Jack cheese: A creamy cheese that melts beautifully.
Crushed tortilla chips: These add a delightful crunch.
Fresh lime: A zesty twist that brightens up the flavours.
Cos lettuce: Crisp and refreshing, it forms the base of the salad.
Cali Caesar dressing: Tortilla’s special house-made dressing that ties all the flavours together. Tortilla’s Cali Caesar dressing is made fresh daily and is noted for its creamy, tangy, and slightly smoky profile, making it a perfect complement to the wrap and salad.

A Refreshing Beverage
Alongside the food, Tortilla introduces a vibrant Hibiscus Lemonade. This refreshing drink combines floral hibiscus with zesty lemon, making it a perfect pairing for the summer menu. Its bright pink colour is sure to catch the eye and add a splash of fun to any meal.
Burrito Society Offer
Tortilla is rolling out an exclusive offer for members of its Burrito Society from 2-9 June. During this period, members can enjoy a free Hibiscus Lemonade with the purchase of either a Cali Caesar Wrap or a Cali Caesar Salad. This loyalty programme aims to reward regular customers while encouraging new diners to explore the menu.
Why This Matters
Food trends often come and go, but the Caesar salad has remained a favourite for many. By reinterpreting this classic dish, Tortilla is not only honouring its Mexican origins but also bringing a fresh perspective that aligns with contemporary tastes. The combination of flavours in the Cali Caesar range reflects Tortilla's commitment to quality and innovation in their menu offerings. James, the Food Director at Tortilla, expressed his excitement about the new menu, saying:
“Caesar wraps have become one of the biggest food trends of the year, but what many people don't realise is that the Caesar salad actually has Mexican roots. It was born in Tijuana, right on the border between Mexico and California, so it felt like a natural fit for Tortilla. We loved the story behind it and saw an opportunity to put our own spin on a genuine culinary icon.”
