Welcome to Yorkshire
Published on December 2nd, 2025
•Luke Wright’s latest show, Later Life Letter, is heading out on a major UK tour in 2026 — and Yorkshire audiences are in for something truly special. This powerful, funny and deeply personal piece blends stand-up, storytelling and poetry as Wright explores his own adoption, the search for identity, and the life-changing moment of finding his birth mother online. It’s already being talked about as one of his most intimate works to date, and Yorkshire gets four chances to see it live.

What’s the show about?
Later Life Letter takes its name from the real-life document written by social workers to adopted children, explaining their story when they’re old enough to understand it. Wright uses that idea as the starting point for a moving, myth-tinged exploration of family, belonging and the strange, sliding-door luck that shapes our lives.
It’s not a bleak hour of theatre — far from it. Expect humour, honesty, emotional punch and Wright’s trademark mix of razor-sharp writing and lyrical flair. It’s a show about parents, privilege, love, and the way our pasts nudge us into the people we become.
Alongside the tour, the story is also being released as a full poetry collection with Little, Brown Book Group — a companion volume that lets audiences dive even deeper into the themes of the show.
Luke Wright on the project
Wright says:
"Later Life Letter grew out of a need to understand where I came from, and why the idea of belonging still preoccupies me well into middle age… The show blends poetry, memoir, and stand-up to tell a story about family, privilege, and love in modern Britain. It’s about how we edit our pasts to make our presents bearable — and what happens when the old stories no longer fit."
