Welcome to Yorkshire

Published on December 5th, 2025

Ever looked at the cover of a magazine and thought, “Wow, that would look amazing on my wall”? Well, this time, it actually can, and for a brilliant cause. One of the country’s most celebrated painters is offering an original piece of his work as a raffle prize, with all proceeds going to a life-saving Yorkshire charity. It’s a unique opportunity to own a stunning artwork while helping to keep a vital emergency service in the air.

A stunning winter scene up for grabs

The artist behind the piece is Andrew Hutchinson, a Pickering-based wildlife painter known for capturing incredible detail and atmosphere in his work. His raffle donation is a beautiful winter scene of Rievaulx Abbey, complete with grazing sheep and a snow-covered landscape.

This isn’t just any painting, it was created specifically as the December cover art for The Yorkshire Dalesman magazine. Thousands have seen it on shelves, but only one person will own the original.

Hutchinson said he was proud to support the charity, adding:
“You see the YAA out there helping people and doing incredible work… if I can help them a little, I’ll be very proud."

A powerful partnership for a life-saving cause

This raffle is the result of a creative partnership between The Yorkshire Dalesman magazine and Andrew Hutchinson. The magazine is a long-standing Yorkshire favourite, celebrating the county’s landscapes, heritage, and people.

All proceeds go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, an essential emergency service that provides rapid-response medical care across the region. As they celebrate their 25th year, the charity says it’s “delighted” to partner with Andrew and The Dalesman at such a significant time.

Every raffle ticket helps fund:

  • Fuel for missions
  • Specialist medical equipment
  • Helicopter maintenance
  • Life-saving paramedic support

It’s a meaningful way to support a charity that reaches people when they need it most.
