Côte York

French Brasserie Recently been for lunch to the York branch, great location if you are in York city centre. I had the Pork belly which was outstanding! Soft and crunchy top, full of flavour and perfect combination with the cabbage underneath. We also got the free flowing fries, great! Crunchy, Salty and soft inside. The staff in this branch were great as well, very organised and ready to take orders or top up when needed. The price was a little bit steep, but same as everywhere nowadays. Cost just under £50 for two meals and two drinks. We chose Cote for the gluten free options, this was really good. Most of the meals you could adapt to gluten free and there was a lot of variety to choose from. One thing I would say about the branch is the seating isn’t very comfortable. But didn’t change my view on the experience.

We attended for a special occasion as it was my partners birthday, it was refreshing to see they acknowledged that straight away and asked appropriate questions about the day!. The atmosphere was calm and intimate which is what we was wanting, we have visited later on in the evening and it can be more lively but still a great atmosphere. The food was delicious, beautiful menu choices and all mouthwatering dishes! We wished we could have ordered more! The portion sizes were just right and each bite was bursting with flavour. The staff were kind, friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful experience.

We were staying in York for my wife’s birthday and ate at Cote on her birthday, which is a bit of a tradition for us if we are in a town with a Cote Brasserie. The food and service were both excellent as we have come to expect. I wish I could recall the name of our waitress to give her a special mention, as she was lovely. Would recommend.

Lovely meal in York. Excellent service from our Polish hostess (sorry did not catch her name). Food was excellent but also great value for money. Been to a few Cote’s and always a great experience. Please reopen the one in Harrogate!

Pre Christmas catch up with friends and left feeling like a fraud. Our table was booked for four people but unfortunately our host couldn't make it. The booking reference was forwarded on and the rest of us met up. We had an offer that was also forwarded on for 'your free glass of free glass of fizz' which we presented a photo was taken of the offer and 'they' arrived. When the bill came we had been charged for the fizz - the staff said that the offer had already been redeemed. In retrospect it might have been a good idea for Côte to check the offers' validity before pouring the drinks. If there was an issue then come back to the table and ask if we still want the drinks? Looking more closely at the wording of the offer it does say 'your free glass of fizz' and it's not plural - so perhaps a misunderstanding on our part as well, but why bring three glasses if the offer was for one glass, or worse, redeemed? Our bill was around £200, so to try to dupe a free glass of fizz or three isn't our style. We didn't create a fuss, the staff were lovely and the food was nice so we paid and included the 12.5% gratuity. If you have vouchers/offers folks just be clear about what you actually have. We will continue going to Côte as the menu's are nice and options are great for our friend who is coeliac. Sadly, I do have to say this tiny faux pas tainted our visit this time and feel it could have been handled better.
