Mallard Grange Bed & Breakfast & Self Catering Escapes

Impossible to praise Mallard Grange enough. A lovely, large, well-appointed room, with a massive bed. A truly warm welcome from the delightful Maggie, and the most amazing breakfast with a very large choice. I had the absolutely excellent Whitby kipper. Very convenient for Ripon while being properly rural. We shall certainly re-visit.

Award winning bed & breakfast. Our room was fantastic; big bed, en suite bathroom, TV, tea & coffee facilities, WiFi etc. As for breakfast...what do you want? The menu is very extensive & flexible. Maggie is a wonderful host...

We loved everything about Mallard Grange - the friendly welcome by Maggie the owner, the spacious room, the highest quality of everything in it, the great breakfast, the location within walking distance of Fountains Abbey, and on an actual working farm. This was one of the best accomodations we have ever stayed at in all our many travels.

What can I say? What an amazing place! It feels welcoming as soon as you arrive, and when you leave, it's like you are part of the family. Maggie is a warm host who's attention to detail is fantastic. Maggie showed us to the garden room which had a beautiful garden view along with a view of Doris the Maggie horse. The rooms huge with a wardrobe with about 10 hangers and a long mirror on the inside door. The bathroom is a big bathroom with views of the farm. Maggie has a file with information on the farm, recommended restaurants and things to see and do. I really enjoyed reading the history on the ownership of the farm dating back to 1600. The bed is very comfortable and is huge. The breakfast was fantastic. We stayed for 3 nights so tried 3 different breakfasts. The full English is all locally sourced, the pancakes are freshly made which I had with lemon curry and finished with dippy egg and soldiers. There is also a choice of cereals, yohurt and fruit. Maggie sat with us after breakfast was served which was lovely. The farm has a beautiful field of Tulips which you can purchase along with homemade lemon curd, honey and jam. It is a 30 minute walk to the deer park and from there around 30 minutes to fountain Abbey. York is 50 minutes drive from the farm. Whitby and Robin hoods Bay are 1hr 30 min drive. Harrogate has some lovely restaurants which is a 30 minute drive, we had an Indian and a Greek here. We drove to Ripon for an Italian. We cannot wait to come back as there is still so much to see and do. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Yorkshire now.

The imperfections are quite simply, perfect! We stayed 3 wonderful nights at Mallard Grange. This is an authentic working farm and it was a joy for us to learn about the farm from our host, Maggie during our post-breakfast chats. Maggie is an exceptional host and everyone we met was very welcoming. Our room was lovely. Beautiful linen, a very comfortable bed and a very quiet setting, resulted in a great night's sleep. We tried out different items on the breakfast menu and everything was delicious. We loved the communal table and chatting with other guests in the morning. The location is perfect for travelling around, Fountain Abbey is across the field and Ripon is just down the road, with a great choice of restaurants. Genuine, warm Yorkshire hospitality.
