Happy to sell you out of date food! First ever visit last week & once again I find out of date stock on the shelves. I wanted a drink for the fridge but noticed it was out of date in November 2024. Started looking through the full shelf & ALL cans were out of date! Took it to the till to let them know & also ask if they had any in date stock.... Told, without any checking, that there is no other stock & asked if I still wanted it! I said no as it's out of date & the lady (with I assume the manager stood smirking next to her) said they just fill the shelves! I work in a supermarket & selling out of date food is not good! I'll be reporting to trading standards as this isn't the first time I've come across out of date food. Fair enough if there is a sign warning, like I have seen where they sell at a reduced rate, but to not inform customers at all is bad code checking & bad business!
The new layout is ridiculous. Customers now have to trail along three aisles full of goods you don't want to reach the tills. And when you arrive at the tills there's usually a queue because the place is understaffed.
This was the first time to ever visit this chain of shops. I liked the fact that in front of the shop they had a big box of free (out of date) vegetable seeds to pick through. Inside, it was a treasure trove of almost anything that you can think of. An Aladdin's cave of knick knacks - of stuff that you never realized you need until you saw it here. I picked up a couple of large balloon sized glasses for huge gin and tonics. Very useful... Some of the aisles were a bit cluttered with half opened boxes, but OK.
I have loved going to this place for decades, but my first visit today after it's recent facelift left me spitting. I had parked in the public car park and used the rear entrance as usual. Could I pay at the rear till? Had to take heavy load to front and schlelp through three aisles to reach it. To add to the inconvenience customers can only leave via one of the front doors which meant a walk in pouring rain. This policy might deter shoplifters, but will also put off customers. Who comes first?
I like this shop, although it can be hard to navigate inside, as it is over crowded with stock in some areas, especially with the Christmas sale on at the moment. I have knocked a star off because I have bought 2 vapes on separate occasions, which did not work when I took them home for my son. I kept the receipts but had to argue on both occasions to get a replacement, so I no longer buy from here.
