Yorkshire is building: Leeds Bradford Airport has opened its new terminal extension — the first phase of a £100 million expansion and Hull’s new state-of-the-art visitor centre at North End Shipyard is now complete.

In sport, Leeds United kick off their Premier League return by signing Germany international Lukas Nmecha on a free transfer and Beverley brothers Sam and Thomas Christie have climbed to second place in the FIM Sidecar World Championship.

UK Proms in the Park returns to Harewood House on 20 and 21 June 2025, bringing a high-energy Dance Anthems night with Judge Jules and a grand classical Proms evening hosted by Rob Rinder, all set against the stunning historic estate with food, bars and family-friendly festival vibes.

Pontefract hosts its first Young Traders Market on Saturday 21 June, bringing together talented local entrepreneurs aged 18 to 30.

Wakefield-born artist Jason Wilsher-Mills brings his first major hometown exhibition, Jason and the Wakefield Adventure, to Wakefield Exchange from 20 June to 7 September, showcasing giant sculptures, interactive digital art and community-inspired works.

Red Ladder Local brings three fun-packed family shows to Yorkshire this summer — with Robyn Hood in Horbury on 22 June and Staincross on 24 July, Pipes and Poo in Horbury on 13 July, and Rubbish Romeo and Juliet in Belle Isle on 21 August.

Viva!’s Halfway Heroes campaign arrives in Leeds on Monday 23 June, handing out free plant-based burgers in Dortmund Square.

Bradford’s summer line-up is packed with art exhibitions, family festivals, guided walks, live music and cultural events.

Leeds Playhouse’s summer season features a vibrant mix of theatre, dance and spoken word, including new Yorkshire stories, family shows like Bing’s Birthday, classics such as To Kill a Mockingbird and Romeo & Juliet.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s Night Out at the Zoo evenings on 21 June and 16 August offer a rare chance to see animals at their most active after hours, with live entertainment, acrobatic shows and family fun until sunset.

Tony Lewis brings his acclaimed Robbie Williams tribute show to Silsden Town Hall on 25 October, promising an evening of chart-topping hits and show-stopping entertainment.

Autumn Lights returns to York’s Elvington Airfield on Sunday 27 October 2024 with two dazzling firework displays, live music from Dick & Dom and Young Elton, a funfair, street food, roaming performers and family entertainment.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride returns to Wensleydale Railway from 14 November to 23 December 2025, inviting families to step into a magical Christmas story with hot chocolate, dancing chefs, Santa, and a silver sleigh bell to take home, all against the backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales.

Disney On Ice presents Find Your Hero brings beloved characters, spectacular skating and classic songs to Sheffield’s Utilita Arena from 17 to 21 December 2025, promising a magical festive experience for families with ten performances filled with adventure and holiday sparkle.

The FIM X-Trial World Championship returns to the UK for the first time in nearly a decade, with Leeds hosting its debut X-Trial event on 24th January 2026 as part of an expanded international calendar.
