Stayed here for a night for my first time in York and loved it. The hotel location is very convenient as it's right next to the station and shops. The staff are lovely and accommodating; kept my food in their fridge and reheated it for me. The room was clean bed was very comfortable and had a tea corner. The TV connects to mobile so was able to watch Netflix/YouTube! Also the breakfast was great. Would stay again next time I'm in York.

Me and my partner stayed here for one night to go to the Christmas market. The location is very convenient as central York is just a 10-15 minute walk away! Parking is discounted at £15 a night (which I don’t think is terrible considering the current climate). The room was comfortable and provided everything we needed for the evening😊 overall a comfortable stay!

I stayed in 2 rooms over 2 weeks for 3 nights in total while in York for business. The rooms although bed and amenities are comfortable and sufficient the room needs a good scrub, the bathrooms need attention and the overall building needs some TLC. The staff are at a minimal so service is very slow. The cooked breakfast was cold all 3 days. I cant offer much more about this experience other than it certainly wasnt worth the money. I would not recommend here. The best thing was the location to station and town.

Absolutely filthy dump. May I add, I have never asked for a refund in any hotel I have stayed in, ever. Before we got to our room, we entered the building before we got there and it was disgusting. Cans of drink, stains all over the floors. Filthy smelly lift. The first room we were given was appalling. The smell of mold, the visible mold. Crumbs on the floor, bits of toilet paper around the toilet and an unflushed toilet. I did not take any pics of this room as I am not that kind of person. I went down to reception with my young daughter and apologised that we absolutely could not stay in this room. The girl on reception went to 'check' another room for us. This room was just as bad. I did take pics of this room, just as moldy, stains everywhere, broken curtains. Just horrific. On my way out to yet again complain, there was a man's sock on the shelf by the door. This room had obviously been 'cleaned' to the lowest standard. At nearly 11pm for a 2 night stay for my daughters birthday, I told the receptionist that we are going to have to stay here although did not want to. My daughter was exhausted, I was. We were told there wasn't a manager at the hotel. We were told to complain in the morning, although to move to another PI, we would probably have to pay full price and just hope to be refunded for this hotel. How on earth could I risk that on a 'hope'. We woke up and decided against wasting our only full day here, and just spend as much of it out of the disgusting room as possible. Outdated was the least of the issues here. A dirty bin with some kind of fluid that hadn't been wiped off. Mold spores everywhere. Rust, grime, not properly vacuumed. The smell of damp was enough to make you choke. Apparently we can't get a refund because we didn't complain a third time. Absolute rubbish. An expensive short stay here, I could not ruin it for my daughter arguing for nothing. I had to make it a nice experience for her. Our first night was ruined. I will not stop at trying to get a refund.

I'll start by saying I don't regret staying here. The bed is very comfortable and my room was quiet. The location was excellent, right by the train station and a the city walls, a short walk into downtown. I also had great service from the desk staff. That said, I was a bit surprised by the state of some things. When I came into the building where my room was located, I was greeted by a musty smell and very worn out carpets and walls, plus a dirty elevator. My room didn't feel finished when I came in, I had to ask for new bedding and spot cleaning cause it seemed unfinished. The towels smell funny, the bathroom fan is very noisy, and there's nowhere to put your hand towel. The carpet and walls in my room were in a bad state. Also, the wifi was abysmal, which was very frustrating as I tried to get myself sorted. Overall it was a good choice for my stay, I just think some basic elements of an acceptable room need to be put in place.
