New hotel, very friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely and always re filled. Rooms were nice and comfortable beds. Close to town centre so easy accsess to york centre. Over all we had an amazing stay. Would recommend parking on morrisons carpark a 2min walk away, half the price of the premier inn carpark.

20/11/2025: We recently stayed at the Premier Inn York City Centre (Layerthorpe). The location is practical, and the hotel is clean. The price feels reasonable for the area. It is about a 10–15-minute walk to the centre, which is convenient. We had two issues during the stay. On the first morning, there was no hot water in the bathroom sink. When we reported it to a younger female staff member, the interaction lacked empathy, and we did not feel listened to. Later, we spoke with a tall male staff member, and the difference was clear. He was attentive and communicated in a straightforward, reassuring way. The problem was fixed by the time we returned in the afternoon. On the second evening, the TV remote became stuck on the guide screen. We reported it, and it was resolved quickly. We also want to note that the same female staff member checked us in the day before. Her communication felt flat and lacked the enthusiasm and customer-care awareness we normally expect from Premier Inn. Other staff interactions were noticeably more positive. Regarding breakfast, we have stayed here before, and each time the hot food items have been lukewarm rather than hot. However, staff will prepare fresh eggs on request, which is helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel itself was quiet. Even with the issues, the quick fixes and the helpfulness of some staff made the stay generally satisfactory. 03/10/2025: Stayed in a Premier Plus room, spacious, spotless, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the hotel had a calm, well-kept feel. We didn’t use the on-site car park but parked at the nearby Q-Park Shambles, which was easy and convenient. Just a short walk into the city centre, so ideal for exploring York. Already booked to stay again.

Do 𝙣𝙤𝙩 park here. Premier Inn lets Horizon Parking run the on-site “Premier Inn Guest” car park. The sign says £16 per 24 hours, but it doesn’t clearly explain that parking is charged in fixed 24-hour blocks. We stayed for 2 days and 1 hour 40 minutes and were charged for 3 full days (£48), with no flexibility, even though we were staying at the hotel. Premier Inn have refused to help and claim this is “stated on the signage”, which it isn’t. I’d avoid using this car park altogether, there’s a Morrisons nearby that other guests recommend using instead.

Stayed 2 nights with a baby. Easy walk from the train station. Large family room, was spotlessly clean. Bed was very comfortable no noise at night. Kettle with tea and coffee in the room and you could get refills for your room from the reception area. Cot and cot sheets provided and set up for us. Staff was nice. Close to all the main attractions and lovely restaurants and bars. Would recommend and will stay again. Overall lovely stay.

I stopped in to have a quiet drink after wandering around york, i sat at the bar and got served by some lovely girls who were professional as well as friendly, it was quite a pleasant experience however, the manager completely ruined it, not only was she not in uniform, she was very rude to her team members, which looked very unprofessional, and stood around twiddling her thumbs watching her team running around while it was busy, nothing she did seemed important or actually helpful and whenever she wasn’t doing useless tasks she was stood around talking! being in this industry for so long i know one of the main priorities is uniform, the second being staff morale, if customers are seeing this out in the open what’s going on when nobodys around?! i think i heard a staff member say a name beginning with S but i was too taken aback by the lack of care for her staff i didn’t really hear it properly, i feel awful for those girls who served me as they were a complete opposite to their manager, hard working, polite, professional and friendly.
