Friendly staff and a good gym overall, but cleanliness and organisation need improvement. I’ve noticed used tissues left around machines for days, and weights are often left scattered, which makes the gym feel cluttered. I do understand that not everyone puts equipment back where they found it after their workout. Also, the disabled toilet door in the women’s changing room could do with being fixed.
The team is really friendly, and it is run really well by the manager. It’s fully equipped and recently refurbished, with a great layout and kit. The women’s only section works really well, but you could train anywhere in the gym it’s a very relaxed atmosphere. Anyone of any ability, fitness level, or age would feel at home. It’s a very welcoming environment.
Gyms a lot better since the refurb, but screw the nut guys, it’s snowing and 1c outside and you still haven’t put the heating on, it’s bloody freezing for customers let alone the staff working here all day/night. Kam’s a legend and always looking to keep on top of the gym!
I have recently joined the gym, with off-peak membership. I thought that would give me enough access to the classes I wanted, but unfortunately (for me) there are not enough that I want within the restricted times. So, an ask is, please do put on more classes during the off peak times. On a very positive note, I have really enjoyed the classes that I have attended, and will continue to do so very regularly. Coupled with this, the best classes have been delivered by Danil, Phoebe and Kam, all of whom are really friendly and willing to help me to get it right. The gym is a welcoming environment, with plenty of equipment, I have never had to wait for a machine. So, you're doing a great job York, thank you.
Disappointed that the cycle studio has been moved to a smaller area with no dimmable lights. Space is cramped and the bright fluorescent lights spoil the atmosphere... Also, disappointed in the reduced frequency of evening cycles classes that are available throughout the weekdays. Female toilet was also extremely foul-smelling recently. Seems like a downgrade rather than an upgrade
