Bradford is all set to captivate visitors with the upcoming Bradford Literature Festival (BLF). Mark your calendars for 28 June to 7 July 2024, as this milestone event unfolds its magic across the city.

A festival with nationwide impact

In a collaboration with Network Rail, BLF will extend its reach far beyond Yorkshire, captivating audiences across the UK. Starting from 1 June, major train stations including Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Birmingham New Street, and five key London stations—Euston, Kings Cross, London Bridge, London Victoria, and London Waterloo—will come alive with BLF’s branding and posters. Aiming to inspire millions of passengers, the ad campaign will showcase Yorkshire and invite visitors to experience the festival's unique charm.

A celebration

The Bradford Literature Festival is not just an event; it’s an ethos of inclusivity and accessibility. With a commitment to making culture accessible to all, BLF offers affordable ticket options starting from just £5 and ensures that all family events are free. This ethical ticketing policy ensures that everyone can enjoy the rich tapestry of events on offer.

Stellar line-up

Over the course of 10 days, the festival will host more than 500 events, making it one of the UK's largest literature festivals. Well-known personalities such as comedians Ruby Wax, Shaparak Khorsandi, and Sara Pascoe, singer Corinne Bailey Rae, and historian Mary Beard are set to appear.

Visitors can look forward to an array of annual favourites such as Lyrical Mehfil, Northern Noir at the Bar, and Brontë-themed events. Additionally, the festival's Sacred Music event at Bradford Cathedral is a spectacular conclusion to the festivities.

Education

Bradford Literature Festival is not only a cultural celebration but also a cornerstone of educational engagement. Its extensive education programme integrates deeply with the main festival, providing children and young people with unparalleled access to renowned authors and thinkers. This year’s themes range from Ancient Egypt to Gothic Literature and Climate Change, ensuring a rich educational journey for all attendees.
