Figuring out the next step in a career can feel a bit like shouting into the wind. You send off CVs, fill out endless online forms, and hope for the best. But what if there was a way to skip the queue and have some genuine, face-to-face conversations with people who are actually hiring? That's exactly the thinking behind the events organised by the British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS). A

fter a massively successful careers event in Tidworth, all the momentum is now building towards the next big opportunity for the Armed Forces community in Catterick. It's all about creating a space for real chats that lead to real outcomes.

What happened at Tidworth?

The recent event at Tidworth wasn't just another careers fair; it was a buzzing hub of opportunity and connection. The numbers alone tell a pretty strong story. It was an event that showed what happens when you bring motivated people together in a supportive environment. The engagement was incredible, and it wasn't about fleeting, two-minute handshakes. People were having proper, in-depth discussions that can genuinely shape a future career path. This is the kind of event that provides real support and delivers tangible outcomes for everyone involved.

Let's have a quick look at the highlights from the Tidworth event:

  • Packed Out: Over 700 people registered to attend, and there was a strong turnout on the day. This wasn't a quiet affair; it was full of people eager to make connections.

  • Loads of Choice: More than 80 exhibitors and partners were there. This included employers looking for new talent, training providers offering new skills, and various support services.

  • Something for Everyone: The companies came from all sorts of backgrounds. Think Defence & Security, Engineering, Logistics, Construction, Energy, Public Services, and even IT. A really broad mix.

  • Proper Chats: One of the best things was the quality of the interactions. Instead of a mad rush for an hour, there was a steady flow of people all day, meaning everyone had the chance for strong, one-to-one, face-to-face conversations.

This success story in Tidworth has set a brilliant standard, and the focus now is to carry that positive momentum forward. The whole point is to create an environment where the Armed Forces community can find the support they need.

The Catterick event is next on the cards

With the success of Tidworth still fresh, the BFRS team is putting its full focus on the upcoming careers event in Catterick. For anyone connected to the Armed Forces, this is a golden opportunity. It’s a chance to meet employers who genuinely value the skills and experience that come from a services background. It’s a space to explore training options that could open up completely new doors and to connect with support services that understand the journey from military to civilian life. Whether someone is leaving the forces in a few months or has been out for a while, this event is designed to provide clarity and a practical next step. It's about having real, face-to-face conversations that make a difference.

And it’s not just for job seekers. For employers and training providers, booking a stand is a brilliant way to meet a pool of motivated, skilled, and dedicated candidates. These garrison events are known for drawing a strong crowd. Take the last Catterick event in November 2025, for example. It saw over 625 people register, with 444 attending on the day. The organisers expect a minimum of 400 people at the next Catterick event, though they often see even more. It's a fantastic chance to build a pipeline of talent and raise a company's profile within this highly valued community. But anyone interested needs to be quick; there are only 15 stand spaces remaining.

Why these events are a bit different

What makes a BFRS event stand out is the atmosphere. It’s not a high-pressure, intimidating environment. It's designed to be a calm, supportive space where people can have proper conversations. This approach is backed by a huge and strong community of over 50,000 members. With a massive weekly reach of over 200,000 across different online channels, there's a constant flow of information and support. This powerful network ensures that the events are well-attended and full of quality opportunities. The real magic happens in those face-to-face conversations, where people can explore possibilities at their own pace and get the support they need to move forward. The engagement at each event is consistently high because the focus is on creating real outcomes.

The entire operation is built on trust and a deep understanding of the Armed Forces community. Sponsors and charity partners play a big role, helping to ensure these events can continue to provide high-quality support and benefit the wider community. This strong foundation allows BFRS to maintain the momentum from one successful event to the next, with the Catterick event being the current focus.

Get your CV and interview skills sorted

On top of the main careers event, there's also extra support available. BFRS is hosting a CV & Interview Skills Workshop, with the next one scheduled for 12th March at 09:00 hrs. This session, delivered by the experts at Chevron Traffic Management, is all about the practical stuff. It offers employer-led guidance on how to structure a CV so it stands out, how to handle interviews with confidence, and, importantly, how to translate military experience into language that civilian employers will understand and appreciate.

Think about it: skills like leadership, teamwork under pressure, and logistics management are incredibly valuable, but they need to be presented in the right way. Spaces for the workshop are limited to ensure everyone gets good quality time and advice, so booking is a good idea. It’s another example of the practical, real support offered to the community to help achieve the best possible outcomes.
