YHA Grinton Lodge

After a week of staying in various other YHA’s around the Dales I plumped for a cabin here for my last night and had the best night’s sleep of my life. The electric heater kept the pod warm and cosy and there were enough sockets to charge devices. The quilts I think were thicker than those you get in the dorms in the main buildings. Other facilities were good, there was a separate SC kitchen and sitting area away from the main building which afforded a bit of peace and quiet from a large school party (who actually were totally great and made no noise or fuss at all but I think they made full use of the communal areas attached to the main lodge). Staff were superb, toilet and shower facilities were great, there was enough room in the shower facilities to hang and keep your outside clothes dry and house your other bits and bobs while you shower. The main building has WC facilities to the left of reception and this is also where the water refill taps are. Loads of parking, you have to manually open and close the gate on entry, in case it’s dark when you arrive there’s a bungee cord on top of the wall to hold the gate in place while you enter.

YHA Grinton Lodge is a fantastic budget-friendly stay in the heart of nature. The location is quiet and peaceful, with beautiful views all around. You’ll hear nothing but birdsong and the occasional sheep — a perfect escape from city life. The rooms are neat and clean, and they also offer camping cottage options if you’re looking for something a bit different. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks are very reasonably priced. It’s an ideal spot for anyone wanting to explore the countryside and enjoy some real peace and quiet. Highly recommended.

Absolutely lovely place. Affordable and in middle of a beautiful place. Rooms and toilets were kept clean. We 13 people had real fun stayed for night and instantly repented the decision for short stay there. Highly recommended if you visit Yorkshire Dales.

Stayed in a camping pod - lovely location in a copse next to the YHA, catching the rays of morning and evening sun beautifully. Very peaceful mid week early September. Clean showers and toilets dedicated to campers. Ate in restaurant one evening, food easily on a par with local pubs, but a lot cheaper, and very tasty.

We stayed in a second YHA because we had a great stay st the YHA Grinton Lodge! Staff are friendly, the place is clean and has everything you need. Free parking. Even a kitchen to make tea and cook a meal! Highly recommended
