Booked for a family meal and a two of the meals were poor mixed grill expensive and terrible steak and gammon. The gammon as a meal was anaemic and very chewy after mentioning this we didn’t get any feedback at all. Not a great choice on menu and you would hope they could get the limited choice right. Service was fine until after the complaint
Stayed for two nights and overall it was okay, but not quite what I expected for the price. I can’t fault the staff at all – everyone we met was super friendly and helpful, really great service all round. The room, however, was disappointing. I booked a larger double but it still felt quite small, with nowhere to properly put our luggage or belongings. The layout didn’t work well, and it could have been cleaner – we found hairs on the floor and in the bed. I also expected the room to be maintained or refreshed between nights, but it wasn’t, which was surprising. Breakfast was an additional £14 per person, which felt overpriced for what was offered and not worth the cost. I don’t blame the on-site team as they were clearly doing their best, but management really needs to look at how the hotel is being run and maintained. At £140 a night, the experience should have been much better. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t stay here again.
Do not recommend - go elsewhere…. We were a group who booked 2 nights to attend wedding. It materialised different members of group where charged different prices. We were allocated what was described as a double room . The bed was a small double ( not standard double) or otherwise known as large single which was way too small for 2 adults. 2 couples in our party had huge rooms but were charged less. 1 person on her own had a room with a bigger bed than ours. Relayed all our concerns to manager which was met with a don’t care / hostile attitude Food was ok, young staff tried their best.
Went for food in the afternoon and it was just a bit sad. Especially since I've heard really good things about the pub. Got there and got told we had a 45 minute wait on food which is fair enough if they're busy. We ended up waiting a bit short of two hours for the food. It was quite disappointing as well, nachos that were swimming in liquid so they were soaked and soggy. The chips where pretty soft and soggy too, and the pork baguette was fine but did not have much pork on it. £38 for a sandwich, fries, onion rings and nachos + 2 drinks. Staff were friendly but it just took so long for food without any updates and the result was mediocre at best. Very disappointed and still hungry.
We stayed as part of a group with 11 folks in 6 rooms to attend a wedding. The room we were given was tiny and inappropriate for the price. We were moved to a "better" room but after the first of two nights, this room again was inappropriate as it had no proper bed or matress and an extractor fan proved noisy all night. We accept things going wrong but on discussion with management, there was absolutely no empathy that we were part of a wedding group for the weekend and there was no further option to change rooms. Instead we were given a refund for the second night and sent away with a flea in our ear. We were told how we were lucky to have attended the wedding but no apology for breaking up a friend's weekend. Suggest anyone else wanting to "get lucky", look elsewhere for accommodation
