Published on February 5th, 2026

Let's be honest, February can sometimes feel a bit grey and long, can't it? The buzz of the new year has worn off, and spring still feels a little way away. But in Bradford, there’s a place determined to keep the good vibes going. The Darley Street Market has a whole calendar of events lined up for February 2026, making it a proper hub of activity whether you’re after a coffee, some live music, or a bit of family fun. There are so many events planned by the markets service, you'll be spoilt for choice.

A market buzzing through the week

It’s not just about weekend excitement at the Darley Street Market. There’s something happening pretty much every day, turning it into a real community spot. Imagine popping in on a Tuesday morning and finding a friendly face. That's the idea behind the Chatty Cafe, running from 11am to 12noon every week. It’s a simple, lovely idea: a space for people to come together for a natter and a cuppa, no agenda needed.

Wednesdays are all about getting creative or competitive. Throughout the day, there are 'Plenty' workshops running, which are perfect for anyone wanting to learn a new skill or just get their hands busy making something. Then, as evening rolls in, it’s time for the Northern Monk Quiz Night from 6-7pm. It’s the perfect excuse to grab a few mates, put your heads together, and see if you can snag the top prize. And to round off the working week, the market comes alive with live music every Friday from 6-8pm. It's a great way to slide into the weekend. The tunes continue every Saturday from 5-7pm, creating a fantastic atmosphere while you browse the stalls or grab a bite to eat.

Special events to fill your diary

Alongside the regular weekly happenings, there's a brilliant line-up of one-off events in February that are well worth marking on the calendar. Running right up until Saturday, 21 February, is the Fair Food Futures UK photo exhibition. It’s a chance to see some incredible photography that really makes you think about where our food comes from and the stories behind it. A perfect, low-key cultural fix during a trip into Bradford.

On Friday, 6 February, from 11am to 3pm, the market is hosting a 'Time to Talk' event. It’s a welcoming space designed to get people chatting openly about mental health, breaking down barriers over a cup of tea in a relaxed setting. The very next day, Saturday, 7 February, is the 'Real Market'. From 10am to 3pm, it will be packed with local producers and artisans. Think freshly baked bread, local cheeses, and unique crafts – all the good stuff.

For those feeling a bit crafty, Friday, 13 February, offers a 'Pottery and Sip' session from 11am to 1pm. It sounds like exactly what you'd want from a creative workshop – a chance to play with clay and make your own masterpiece, all while enjoying a nice drink. No experience necessary, just a willingness to get a bit messy!

Valentine's, pancakes and potatoes

Of course, February means Valentine's Day, and the Darley Street Market has it covered. On Saturday, 14 February, there’s a special Valentine’s Market from 10am to 3pm. It’s the ideal place to find a unique, thoughtful gift from a local maker instead of the usual last-minute panic buy. There’s also a Valentine’s Drop-In from 11am to 3pm, offering fun activities for couples and families alike.

Just a few days later, on Tuesday, 17 February, it’s all about a Shrove Tuesday celebration. From 11:30am to 2pm, there’s a Pancake Class and Pancake Racing event. Yes, you read that right – pancake racing! It’s guaranteed to be a laugh for all ages. You can learn how to flip like a pro and then put your skills to the test. There’s another event planned for Saturday, 21 February, with details to be announced soon.

And the month ends on a particularly brilliant note with 'Potato Day' on Saturday, 28 February. From 10am to 4pm, this event is a celebration of the humble spud. It's a fantastic opportunity for gardeners and food lovers to discover different varieties and maybe even pick up some seed potatoes for their own patch. It’s quirky, fun, and very Yorkshire.
