A big plus is that this car park is located close to the hospital, specifically the Lincoln Wing. A major downside is the surface – full of potholes, and the lines are barely visible, which often leads to people parking across two spaces, meaning fewer cars can fit. Since the parking is paid, it should be better maintained, but as of October 2025, its condition is very poor. During the day it’s hard to find a free spot, but after around 5pm it usually gets quieter. One more plus - card, app and cash payment available.
Convenient pay and display car park opposite the hospital. Doesn't cost an arm and a leg, perfect if you have a quick appointment. Not many spaces available and they fill up quickly. However, the payment machine is card/phone only and was out of order during my visit - causing a lot of headaches for people. The PayByPhone app is absolutely terrible! (I recommend not bothering with registration and only accessing as a guest).
Absolutely appalling! Charging for hospital parking is a joke. Ended up here after driving round all other car parks multiple times to find the meter OOO and wardens actively ticketing. Have to download an app but 4g/5g terrible. Ended in an argument with the warden - sorry not sorry!
Great little car park opposite St James Hospital, & next to cemetery. £1/hour to park up to 4 hours. Convenient off road parking with no height barrier
Two new machines but both "not in use". This is my third visit and and only once have the parking machines been working. Telephone payment very difficult to access - automatic voice kept breaking up so I couldn't hear the options (this was happening to other people there so wasn't an issue with my phone). Eventually call timed out. This also happened to someone else. I eventually gave up and hope I don't get a fine but it seemed more important to get my son to his appointment on time. This is a very poor service especially as it is mainly used by hospital patients/visitors. Please get the machines working
