This year, the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery is marking the occasion by celebrating a decade of whisky-making, with a special focus on their flagship product, Filey Bay. Founded in 2016, the distillery is located in Hunmanby on the North Yorkshire coast and holds the distinction of being the first single malt whisky distillery in Yorkshire.
Filey Bay Whisky
The distillery has made a name for itself with Filey Bay, which is produced entirely from barley grown on local farms and water sourced from the chalk that lies beneath the land. This commitment to local ingredients is what makes their whisky truly special. The Filey Bay range includes several variations, each with its unique flavour profile:
Filey Bay Flagship Single Malt Whisky (46% Vol) - A light, fruity, and creamy whisky, perfect for both newcomers and seasoned drinkers. It has won a Gold Medal at The W Club Members' Choice Awards 2024.
Filey Bay STR Red Wine Cask Single Malt Whisky (47.3% Vol) - This version is matured in red wine casks, offering a soft and malty taste with hints of biscuit and red fruits.
Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Cask Single Malt Whisky (47.3% Vol) - Sweet and fruity, this whisky features flavours of chocolate-dipped oranges and toasted nuts.
Filey Bay Sherry Cask Reserve #5 Single Malt Whisky (46% Vol) - Aged to perfection, showcasing the depth of flavour that comes with careful maturation.
Filey Bay Nurture, Regenerative Edition (46.5% Vol) - A unique offer exclusive to Waitrose, celebrating sustainable farming practices and featuring flavours of red and black fruit gums.
Filey Bay Porter Cask #2 Single Malt Whisky (51.4% Vol) - This whisky is matured in casks that previously held Wold Top Brewery’s Marmalade Porter, bringing a distinct character to the spirit.
