Exciting changes are on the horizon at York Racecourse, where the Knavesmire Stand's fourth-floor hospitality suites have undergone a stunning transformation. As the venue gears up for the new racing season, these newly renovated spaces are set to offer racegoers a superior experience starting from the first meet of the season, the Dante Festival, happening from 13–15 May 2026.

Newly Renovated Suites

Recent interior images have been released, showcasing the bold redesign of the flagship Knavesmire Stand Boxes. The aim is to combine contemporary design with bespoke touches, ensuring that visitors enjoy a top-notch race day experience. This six-figure refurbishment, led by DT Sports, a specialist in sports and hospitality interior design, features:

  • 11 private suites

  • Capacity for up to 280 guests

  • Stunning views overlooking the final furlong of the racecourse

These suites promise to provide a blend of comfort and style, setting a new standard in hospitality for racegoers.

Modern Amenities

The reimagined suites are designed with modern amenities to enhance the overall guest experience. They feature:

  • Enhanced catering options to satisfy diverse palates

  • Integrated large-screen technology for an immersive viewing experience

This means that guests can not only enjoy the thrill of the races but also have access to top-quality food and entertainment, making their visit even more enjoyable.

Flexible Event Spaces

One of the standout features of these new suites is their flexibility. The layouts are designed to accommodate a variety of events, from intimate gatherings to larger corporate occasions. This adaptability ensures that the spaces can be used for different functions, making them suitable for all kinds of celebrations or business meetings.

First Public Appearance

The newly renovated suites will make their debut during the upcoming Dante Festival, giving racegoers an exclusive first look at the upgraded hospitality experience. This event is a significant occasion for York Racecourse, marking the start of the racing season and providing a fantastic opportunity for visitors to enjoy the revamped facilities.

Words from the Project Leaders

Gavin Pattison, the facilities manager and project lead at York Racecourse, expressed enthusiasm about the transformation, stating:

“Our ambition is to deliver a best-in-class hospitality experience, and partnering with DT Sports has given us complete confidence in achieving that. Their expertise in creating high-quality, design-led environments, combined with a meticulous attention to detail, has resulted in a collection of suites that truly reflect the racecourse’s high standards and the level of comfort and facilities we want to offer our guests. We’re incredibly excited to see the space come to life at the upcoming Dante Festival.”

A Rich Heritage

York Racecourse has a rich history that dates back to 1709, making it a cornerstone of British racing. Since moving to the Knavesmire in 1730, the venue has continually evolved to meet the needs of its visitors. The current Knavesmire Stand, which opened in 1997, has become a landmark development in the area.

Today, the racecourse welcomes up to 300,000 visitors each year and hosts 18 fixtures during the summer, solidifying its reputation as one of the UK's leading racing destinations.

Designer Insights

Will Snaith, the group sales director at Design Tonic, shared his thoughts on the project, saying:

“We’re very proud to have delivered this transformation for one of the UK’s most beloved racecourses. Our aim has been to create interiors that feel both contemporary and timeless, setting the standard for an exceptional hospitality experience. Working on such an iconic venue has been a privilege for the entire team, and we’re looking forward to seeing racegoers’ reactions when the suites are fully revealed in the coming weeks.”
