Filthy, toilets disgusting, Aircon unit raining crud onto tables. seems to be no attempt to clean any of thier stores, avoid food as it makes you wonder what food prep areas are like. Coffee and staff great .
With Costa across the road being refurbished, my hand was slightly forced to visit Caffè Nero. My experience was a great letdown. Staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming from the moment I walked in. Coffee was OK which also doubled up as a useful hand warmer, the place was very cold (staff included). Friendly service and a warm environment goes a long way to secure returning customers, sadly it was missing here. Won't be returning.
This afternoon I went in for a cup of coffee. The first thing that struck me was how grubby the floor was and in fact the whole place. I wanted a cup of coffee so I pressed on. The bloke serving me continually addressed me as mate. While I waited for the coffee he was having a conversation with the other member of staff which included expletives. When he passed it to me he had his hand firmly over the top of the lid that I would be drinking from. I mentioned this and he put a new lid on and then handed it to me in exactly the same way. When I pointed this out he took the lid off, threw me a new one and suggested that I put it on myself. Whether or not it was how my mind was influenced at this point by the filth and really bad service, I don’t know but the coffee was terrible. After testing it a couple of times I poured it away.
Great coffee as usual. Not busy when I was here so staff appeared to be on top of things although a smile would have been nice! Served promptly though and no complaints. Update January 2019: Coffee is as good as always and staff although changed since last I was here, are just as friendly and welcoming (with a smile this time around!). A nice place to watch the world go by for a few minutes. Always feels relaxing here.
