Robin Hill is the perfect place to stay in Settle. I have been coming here for many years and I always look forward to returning – it really is like home-from-home. It is tastefully decorated in keeping with the age of the building (18th century) and is very clean, cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and when you arrive you will find eggs from the owners own chickens and a generous slice of home-made cake waiting for you. There is also tea, coffee and milk for you. A warm welcome! The seating and bedding are comfortable and there is an excellent shower in the bathroom along with plentiful towels. Should things get nippy, gas central heating provides ample heat. Robin Hill is well situated in the centre of Settle with pubs, cafes, Tourist Information and shops all within a few minutes walk from the front door. For a quick walk, turn right out of the front door and within a few minutes you can take stroll along Highway, a lane with lovely views that runs from Settle exiting near Langcliffe about 20 minutes away. For a steak and ale pie, head for The Talbot Arms, a traditional pub with a great range of ales. Booking a table is a good idea if you want to eat there. Settle is a friendly and welcoming town but the star of the show is Robin Hill. I cannot recommend it highly enough! Thanks Jeanne!
Robin Hill was a perfect place to stay in the heart of the dales. The cottage is cosy, warm and well equipped and the location is brilliant-1 minute walk from the front door and you are on a bridleway with lovely views of Settle. Jeanne was a great host, she communicated well and provided us with everything we could need and more. Looking forward to staying again soon!!
What a wonderful little cottage. It looks like it has been recently upgraded/refurbished. Warm, cosy, comfortable and a skip and jump to the centre of Settle with pubs and restaurants of all types. We were greeted with cake, milk, tea and coffee and enjoyed sitting on the patio furniture in the sun at the back. We had a great stay as this was our base for exploring as much of the Dales as possible. The only drawback was the parking. These cottages were obviously built when no cars existed and so there is little in the way of parking on narrow avenues. Parking nearby was plentiful if you know where you are going. I can see why people keep coming back and if we were ever in the area again, we would love to come back here.
We have stayed at all three properties over a 12 year period, and each and every time it has been perfect. Everything you need is there, they are super clean, tea/coffee and cake have welcomed us. The location - a minute from the town centre and right in such beautiful scenery, could not be better. Do I recommend them? Yes I do!
This is an ideal bolt hole for visiting Settle, situated only around 100m from the market sq - though be prepared that it's a steep walk up the hill! Robin Hill is one of a row of three little cottages, this one having the most beds with a double and single room. The quaint little cottage has a street facing front door with stepless access but the bathroom and kitchen both have little steps at their entrances, and the back door has a steep set of stone steps, so just go steady, especially on wet days! The street is pretty quiet, with occasional cars and mainly walkers strolling past the window, which is partially private due to the gorgeous window boxes of flowers. Being an old building, watch your head as you walk around! There are low beams and uneven floors by design. All that said, the decor is very tastefully done to suit the age of the building. The place is 5* level of cleanliness -spotless! Fluffy towels, all utensils etc provided in the kitchen and thoughtfully, milk, eggs and a slab of delicious lemon drizzle cake were ready for our arrival. If you want to explore the area, just look to the folders full of information in the alcove - walking, cycling, and plenty of information about the history of Settle and surrounding areas. There's a lovely, cosy lounge with dining table, rocking chair and lounge chair, footstool. This suits three people, perhaps four at a push. Out the back there's a communal laundry and recycling area, and a charming courtyard brimming with beautiful planting, where you could sit out on a nice day/evening. When we visited the properties a few doors down were having building work done, though the walls of the property are quite thick and the builders did not disturb us. It's worth emailing the owners to check availability as we were able to book a couple of nights at short notice. Owner communications were great and very adaptive when we had problems on the trains. Would love to go back here as this was our second time in Settle, first time here and we realised there's so much more to explore in and around this charming little place!
