I really don't like giving bad reviews, especially for Charity shops, but in this case, It's warranted, I bought a brand new Corona style double bed, the bed frame is ok , sturdy even , but the wood used for the slats is SO dry , it feels like balsa wood, absolutely no give in it whatsoever, these beds are meant to handle 200kg of weight, it snapped whilst putting bedding on it , after inspection I can see there are knots all over the slats, in effect useless. I called to explain, no apology , they blamed the Supplier and said I should contact them, which is a ridiculous thing to say, hence this bad review. BHF , do better , Ill never set foot in your shop again. If I buy a car from a dealer and it breaks, The dealership doesn't say "You'll have to take it up with Toyota " It's a ridiculous argument. Also , I'm aware its not an expensive bed, but it should at the very least BE a bed , BHF should have some sort of quality control ,maybe open every tenth beds packaging to check the quality that your Companies name rides on ? (The slat on the left is what they should look like, the slat on the right is the cheapest piece of wood I've ever seen for a bed! Ill have to replace them)
We have recently had a house clearance done in Bakewell. The team that carried this out were brilliant! Respectful, hardworking and polite. I would definitely recommend them.
Bought 2 beds from BHF for delivery yesterday. Drivers (there were 3 of them) turned up with only one bed at 11:30. I explained that there should have been 2 beds and the driver said only one bed was on his list to deliver. Driver said he would be back later to deliver the 2nd bed. I rang the store to find out what happened and they told me it would be delivered later the same day. Fast forward to 3.30pm, I rang the store again only to find out that the driver had told the store that I had agreed for it to be delivered on Monday and they would get the driver to ring me. The driver rang me with some BS about being in Dronfield and he would not be able to deliver the 2nd bed. I rang the store back and told them that I had paid for 2 beds to be delivered and I expected 2 beds to be delivered. The store gave different excuses and I told them that if they were going to lie to a customer to get their stories straight. Low and behold 10 minutes after talking to the store, my 2nd bed was delivered. I always try and use charity shops but I have noticed with BHF their pricing is getting very silly. £1000 ( yes a grand) for a second hand sofa. They are also selling brand new items. If you are desperate use BHF but I personally have found St Luke's to be more reasonably priced.
You could find an electrical products have been tested. If you're a volunteer you might get 20% discount on some products. The staff will be more wonderful if the diversity has been achieved 👏 Many thanks
If I could put 0 stars I would. I have donated countless items to this BHF and have booked for collection twice. Instead of rejecting the collection considering the parking conditions are less than ideal for the vans they have available or working with residents to enable optimal parking, they decided to put a heavily pregnant lady through the works by calling 5 mins before arrival instead of 30 mins as promised. Once rushing down to meet their demands, they then decided not to collect after all without apology even with the workarounds suggested to accommodate THEIR needs. Best to avoid donating by collection if you’re ever going to do it or be prepared to kowtow to their every demand only to be ultimately disappointed because they won’t collect your items.
