|Sometimes, all anyone needs is a proper, good old-fashioned belly laugh. The kind that makes your sides ache and leaves you grinning for days. Well, for anyone near Silsden, that's exactly what's on the cards.
The hugely popular Howard Walker's Comedy Club is making its return to the brilliant Silsden Town Hall, promising an evening packed with top-class comedy. It’s the kind of night out that’s perfect for grabbing a few mates, sitting back, and just letting the jokes roll in. This isn't about watching comedy on a phone screen; it's about the buzz of being in the room where it happens, sharing a laugh with a crowd of people. And this time, Howard is bringing three more fantastic comedians to the stage for a night of sharp humour and quick wit.
A proper good laugh is coming back to Silsden
There's something special about a local comedy night. It feels like a shared secret, a community hub for fun. Howard Walker's Comedy Club has built a reputation for being just that. It's not a one-off show but a regular event where the line-up is always fresh. This means people can come back again and again, knowing they'll see brand-new talent every time.
The club has a history of bringing brilliant acts to the Silsden Town Hall stage, with previous guests including the likes of Nina Gilligan, Steve Royle, and Jack Gleadow. It’s a place known for quality stand-up. So, mark the calendar for Saturday 02nd May, because that's when the laughter returns. The whole idea is simple: gather your friends, get your tickets, and prepare for an evening of comedy that’s guaranteed to lift the spirits.
So, who's on the bill this time?
The main event is always the comedians themselves, and this May's line-up is a cracker. Howard Walker will be joined on stage by three distinct and hilarious acts, each bringing their own unique style to Silsden Town Hall.
Chris Washington: Here is a comedian who is taking the comedy world by storm. Full of northern charm, Chris Washington has a way of telling stories that makes everyone feel like they're having a chat with a funny mate. His talent was officially recognised when he got a nomination for the Best Newcomer award at the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival back in 2017. That's basically like being nominated for a BAFTA in the comedy world, especially for a first show. His nominated hour was called ‘Dream Big (Within Reason)’, which gives a little clue to his down-to-earth humour.
Pete Otway: Described by the comedy guide Chortle as "Devastatingly funny," Pete Otway is a multi-award-nominated comedian with a very interesting backstory – he used to be a dairy farmer. His razor-sharp wit and funny stories have made him a popular act at some of the biggest comedy clubs and festivals across the UK and even around the world. Even the legendary BBC Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright is a fan, calling him "Brilliant. Very, very funny." When you get praise like that, you know you're in for a treat.
Howard Anstock: Since starting his comedy journey in 2017, Howard Anstock has been collecting awards left, right, and centre. He won the Cheshire Cat Comedy New Act award in 2018 and the Kung-fu Pug Comedy New Act award in 2019. He's also been a finalist in other big competitions. His comedy is built on deeply personal stories and experiences, leading to him being described as "an acidic Victoria Wood." For anyone who doesn't know, Victoria Wood was a comedy genius, so that is seriously high praise indeed.
The important bits: tickets, times, and a special club
Getting the logistics right is key for a great night out. The show, Howard Walker's Comedy Club, takes place on Saturday 02nd May. The laughs are scheduled to start at 8:00 pm, but it's a good idea to get there a bit earlier to find a good spot and settle in, as the doors open 45 minutes before the show begins. The venue is Silsden Town Hall, located at Kirkgate, Silsden, Keighley, West Yorkshire, BD20 0AJ. Now, for a really clever tip: for regular theatre-goers, there's something called the Show Club. Members of the Show Club get some pretty neat benefits, like discounts on other shows and priority booking. Best of all, tickets to Howard Walker's Comedy Club are completely free for Show Club members. It’s definitely something worth looking into for anyone who loves live entertainment and a good bargain.

What else is happening at the town hall?
Silsden Town Hall isn't just about this one comedy night. It’s shaping up to have a fantastic programme for 2026. For fans of TV comedy, there will be an appearance from Joe Thomas, best known as Simon from 'The Inbetweeners'. That's bound to be a popular one. Music lovers are also in for a treat with tribute acts celebrating the songs of Shania Twain, the legendary Freddie Mercury, and the Carpenters. And for those who fancy a dance, there's even the ultimate 80s disco night planned, featuring none other than Doctor and the Medics. It seems the town hall is becoming a real hotspot for entertainment in the area, offering a bit of something for everyone.
