Yorkshire Team

|Ever wondered who builds all the shiny metal stuff inside massive factories? The giant vats, the complicated walkways, the super-strong frames holding everything together? Well, a lot of that is down to clever companies like Tadweld, a Yorkshire-based firm that's basically an expert in building with steel. And right now, they're having a bit of a moment. After a brilliant 2025, they’ve rolled into this year with some seriously ambitious growth plans and are on track for their best year ever, aiming to hit a massive £6 million annual revenue for the first time. That's a huge milestone, and it's all happening right here in Tadcaster.
Big plans and building momentum
Think of a business like a video game character. Last year, Tadweld was levelling up, collecting all the right gear and skills. Now, in 2026, it's ready to take on the main quest. The company, a specialist in steelwork manufacturing and a top-tier coded welding specialist, is targeting a 15% growth. This isn't just a random number plucked out of the air; it's based on solid success and a smart strategy. The team has been busy making a name for themselves in precision steelwork, and now they're ready to build on that reputation. Their big revenue target is a sign of confidence, not just in their own abilities but in the future of UK manufacturing, even when things are tough out there. The company's excellent work in fabrication is a key part of this success.
The company has a clear strategy, focusing on expanding its manufacturing capacity and making smart investments. This has set the stage for Tadweld to achieve its impressive annual revenue goal. These growth plans are not just about numbers; they are about securing a strong future.
Investing in the right stuff
So, how does a company set itself up for such a big leap? It's not magic. It’s about making clever choices. Over the past couple of years, Tadweld has been putting a lot of investment into its foundations. Imagine building a huge tower – you'd spend most of your time making sure the base was rock-solid. That's what Tadweld has been doing. They’ve upgraded their internal systems, the complex computer programs that keep everything running smoothly, and expanded their manufacturing capacity. This means they physically have more space and better gear to build more things. But the most important investment? It's in their team.
Chris Houston, the Managing Director at Tadweld, explained it perfectly:
“2026 is an exciting year for the business following a busy and successful 2025. After a period of investment in ERP systems and adding manufacturing capacity, it’s exciting to be back investing in the team. We’re currently recruiting for five new positions and there will be more coming on board later in the year.” “It’s a tough environment for UK manufacturing at the moment, but it is credit to our fantastic team that customers are continuing to choose us as the steelwork solutions partner for their projects.”
This shows that even with the best equipment and systems, it’s the people, the workforce, who make the real difference. It's this focus on building a strong team that helps them stand out.
Exploring new playgrounds and clever solutions
A key part of Tadweld's growth plans is not just doing more of the same, but branching out into new markets. The company is looking at big opportunities in the water sector. Think about the journey water takes to get to your tap – it goes through huge treatment plants filled with pipes, tanks, and filters, all held together with specialised steelwork. That’s where Tadweld comes in. Another area of high demand is the food and drink sector. From giant chocolate factories to your favourite brand of crisps, these places need custom-made, super-hygienic steel structures, and Tadweld provides them with precision steelwork and bespoke access solutions. These solutions could be anything from a special staircase to get to the top of a mixing machine to a perfectly designed platform that fits into a tight space. It's all about creating tailor-made answers to tricky problems through advanced fabrication techniques.
They are also focusing on niche products like the AJAX road tanker access systems. These are essentially safe and sturdy platforms that allow people to get to the top of tanker lorries, which is a very specific but important bit of kit. This shows how the company is thinking outside the box to find new markets.
Building a bigger team for a brighter future
More work means you need more people. Tadweld is on a bit of a hiring spree to support its growth plans. They're looking to add up to 10 new people to their workforce in 2026. The roles they're filling show just how much they are growing across the board. They are currently looking for:
A new Business Development Manager
A Business Development Executive
A Production Manager
These jobs cover everything from finding new customers and projects (sales and business development) to making sure everything gets built perfectly on the factory floor (operations and manufacturing) and even the initial creative stage (design). This careful expansion ensures that as the company gets bigger, it stays just as good, with strong leadership and a happy, well-supported team. This strategic investment in their workforce is vital for increasing their overall capacity.
Chris Houston added:
“We’ve made deliberate investments over the last couple of years to put the right foundations in place - from systems and space to skills and leadership. That means we’re now in a position to grow confidently, enter new markets and strengthen our presence in sectors such as food manufacturing and water treatment, while continuing to deliver the quality and reliability our customers expect.”
Getting a well-deserved pat on the back
It's one thing to have big ambitions, but it's another for experts to recognise your hard work. Tadweld has been shortlisted for a pretty big award: Manufacturer of the Year (in the under £10m category) at the Insider Media Made in Yorkshire Awards 2026. The ceremony is set for Thursday 5th March 2026, and it brings together the best of the best in regional manufacturing. Getting shortlisted is a massive achievement and proves that their strategy of investing in people, technology, and capacity is paying off. It's a huge boost for the whole team and shows that this Tadcaster company is a real force in UK manufacturing.
