SUCH great value for £ ! AND friendly staff, recommending local cafes, walks etc, a fount of information. Both of us got upgraded room, my friend a 4 poster, myself a beautiful green room. William Morris stained glass, antiquated and gargoyles and traditional quaint English 1860's features abound. ANY foreigner or stately mansion fan will love this venue. VERY quiet rooms and location. Doubly price friendly as you can bring/ get your wine uncorked, flutes provided, to drink your own tipple ( no bar therein). Continental B.F.is MORE than adequate. Lovely Fawlty Towers feel about the place.
Helpful staff, beautiful building and seemingly dog friendly which is always a plus for me! Breakfast included as standard which was a nice bonus, very basic but did the job. Only booked this place because it was the best price in the area but was pleasantly surprised. If you are expecting a bland ibis or radisson painted in millenial grey, nah. Lots of character, lots of of characters. The building itself is beautiful too. I'd happily return.
I rarely leave reviews and if I do it’s because of something overwhelmingly positive but this was much the opposite. The room was very cold, fitted with a small heater that didn’t work. There was mould across the skirting board near the bed and there was a distinct musty smell, a clear indication the mould had been there for some time. The duvet had a layer of moisture, I thought it was just cold at first but it left a horrible residue on my hand. To top it all off they refused to give me a refund. I had been in the room no longer than an hour. I left regardless of not getting a refund. Avoid at all cost.
We booked this hotel at short notice due to a family emergency, as a relative was admitted to a nearby hospital while we were away from home. At the time of booking, the room was advertised with free cancellation, which was a key reason for our choice. However, when we later needed to cancel, we were informed that cancellations were not permitted within 48 hours, contrary to the information provided during the booking process. During an already difficult and stressful situation, the lack of understanding and support from management was disappointing and has led me to share this experience. This was booked through their official website so be careful with the false advertising.
Lovely place. Reasonably priced and great continental breakfast to start your day. Loved the ladybirds.
