I'd have to say the whole experience minus the self service was perfect. The slightly annoying part about the Castleford Vue is that it's all self serviced, but the prices are actually slightly more expensive for at least the hotdog as it is usually ÂŁ7.50 for example in York, Hull etc. but the self service in Castleford is ÂŁ8. The rest of the experience was absolutely fine and classic Vue quality.

Very excited to come for the opening day of the new Vue cinema. The layout looks very new and innovative. Unfortunately now they’ve changed to a self serve system there are now no dairy free ice cream options so will probably continue using the Doncaster Vue instead,

A newly opened cinema in what was once a Cineworld. Very fresh and new. The self service snacks is interesting, definitely looked impressive, but the nachos are a huge downgrade from those served at Vue Printworks, much drier, no chilli Dorito option, the cheese nowhere near as good as the hot goo hand pumped on top. Perfection, these are a but ghost, but I am sure it looks good on a spreadsheet. I missed having a pint poured by a human. It's the little things that make a visit to the cinema feel a little special. But I get it, cinema attendance is down, if you can't increase sales, then cut costs, and this at least aesthetically pleasing and had the feel of being in a funfair. My visit was to try out the new Epic screen. On paper one of the best digital projection systems in the world right now. I was impressed. It's definitely the best digital image I have seen. Although sadly still not a patch on the immersive quality of 35 or 70mm film. The Dolby Atmos sound was fantastic. Excellent value for money. You would pay double for this in London

Usually a great experience and a regular one for me, however we had a discount this time. We went to the normal till and was told by a staff member that we could use it on the self service checkout even though we were not sure how this would work. We explained this and all we got was “but you can still use it on the self service checkout”. Not a good attitude. What if someone wants to be served by a real person? Won’t be coming back I’m afraid.

I visited Odeon at Xscape after the buyout from Cineworld and was genuinely impressed with the refurbishment. The reception/foyer looks much better and feels more modern and welcoming. Our screening was in a smaller screen, but it was very cosy and far more comfortable than the packed out screens Cineworld used to have. The reclining leather seats with armrests were a big upgrade and made the experience much more enjoyable. The screen, sound, and picture quality were all excellent. Food wise, the nachos and dips were really good, and my child loved the snack selection. However, we were disappointed with the large slushie we bought it was very watery, tasted slightly chemical, and the cardboard straws actually started to melt in the drink. We stopped drinking it about 10 minutes into the film. Pricing overall is on the high side, but still fair for a cinema experience. Toilets were clean, which is always a plus. Overall, we would definitely go again, but there’s room for improvement around pricing and some product quality.
