|There is celebration in Doncaster and across South Yorkshire as Dan Fell, Chief Executive of Doncaster Chamber, has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list. This prestigious national award recognises his outstanding contribution to the region’s economy and communities over the past two decades.
Championing Doncaster and South Yorkshire
Dan Fell has dedicated almost twenty years to Doncaster Chamber, including the past ten as Chief Executive. Throughout this time, he has worked tirelessly to champion inclusive economic growth and to make Doncaster a better place to live, work and invest.
His leadership has been instrumental in many of Doncaster’s landmark successes. He played a key role in the successful bid for City Status, helped bring the Doncaster University Technical College to life, and continues to be a passionate advocate for the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport — an issue close to the hearts of many local residents and businesses.
A Strong Civic Voice
Alongside his work at the Chamber, Dan contributes his time and experience to several important civic roles. He serves as Director of Finance for Enterprise, Governor of DN Colleges Group, and Co-Chair of Doncaster’s Education and Skills Portfolio Board. He also sits on the South Yorkshire Skills Advisory Board and Doncaster’s City Centre Board.
His previous roles include Chair of CAST Theatre and a position on the South Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, further highlighting his commitment to community and culture.
A Message of Gratitude and Ambition
On receiving the honour, Dan said, *“I am flattered and humbled to receive this award. It recognises not just my work but also the dedication and talent of my colleagues and board members at Doncaster Chamber. It’s been a privilege to help champion business and community growth here.
“There is still much to do — not least fully reopening Doncaster Sheffield Airport — and I look forward to working with my peers and friends to ensure Doncaster’s next decade is even brighter than the last.”*
A Vision for the Future
Under Dan’s leadership, Doncaster Chamber has grown into a leading voice for business nationally, winning Chamber of the Year in 2019 and launching a bold 10-year manifesto for Doncaster’s future prosperity and social mobility.
Fabian Braithwaite, Chair of Doncaster Chamber Board, summed up local feeling: “Dan’s leadership has been extraordinary. His commitment to our community and businesses makes this MBE so well deserved. We are incredibly proud of him.”
