The Easter holidays are just around the corner, which usually means two things: trying to think of fun family days out to keep everyone happy, and wincing every time you pull into a petrol station. With fuel prices on the rise, the thought of driving all over South Yorkshire can put a real dent in the family budget. But what if the journey could be part of the adventure, and a lot cheaper too? Leaving the car at home and hopping on a local bus opens up a whole load of possibilities for some brilliant trips without the stress of traffic or the ever-increasing cost of fuel. It’s a chance to sit back, watch the world go by, and actually chat with the kids instead of staring at the bumper in front.

Ditching the car without ditching the fun

Let's be honest, seeing fuel prices jump is never a good feeling. It can make you think twice about planning those extra trips during the school holidays. Stagecoach, a major local bus operator, has noticed this too and has come up with a whole range of ideas for places to visit that don't require a car. It’s all about finding fun things to do locally that are easy to get to and won't break the bank.

Matt Kitchin, the Managing Director of Stagecoach Yorkshire, summed up the situation perfectly. He said:

“The news is now reporting that average diesel prices have gone up by an incredible 20 pence per litre over the past couple of weeks, so a lot of people are looking for different ways to get out and about. Fortunately, there are so many wonderful places locally that you can to by bus, to keep the family entertained. You really can save on fuel by leaving the car at home and sitting back, relaxing and letting the bus take you there and back.”

It’s a simple idea, but one that makes a lot of sense for families looking to make the most of the Easter holiday.
