The equipment is somewhat good with all necessary machines. However, mostly the machines are out of order and take a while to be fixed. Secondly, there doesn't seem to be an air ventilation or cooling system. The gym becomes very hot after some time. Lastly, this branch is crowded almost all the times, mornings, afternoons and specially in the evenings. A mere 45 minute gym session turns into a 1.5 hour long haul. Plus point is that there are enough lockers, sauna and showers. Overall, I would say that if you are looking for a gym to concentrate and focus, you can't do it here in the normal timings. You might want to visit post midnight to find it less crowded. But if you are looking for a more commercial gym, it is great.

This is one of the worst gym experiences I have ever had. The music at JD Gym Huddersfield is ridiculously loud, louder than many nightclubs. It is impossible to train properly, and I leave with a headache every single time. I have repeatedly and politely asked staff to reduce the volume, but they do not care at all. In some cases, they have even turned it up louder. That alone shows complete disrespect for customers. A gym is not a nightclub. Most members use their own headphones, so forcing everyone to endure this level of noise makes no sense. It honestly feels like the music is being played for staff, not for paying customers. The situation with the toilets is just as bad. They are constantly dirty, and there is often no toilet paper. I have personally had to ask staff multiple times just to get toilet paper refilled. Basic hygiene and cleanliness should be a minimum standard in any gym — clearly not here. Overall, this gym shows zero concern for member comfort, health, or hygiene. Between the unbearable noise, rude indifference from staff, and filthy toilets, I would strongly advise people to think twice before joining.

In need of a refurb ASAP. No new equipment in years, not clean and the equipment we do have is dated and broken. We have just done almost a week without access to the taps to get water, this week there was no toilet roll in the women’s toilet or elsewhere in the gym and a member of staff had to go into town and get some… no good when members of the public need to get to work on time we cannot be waiting for toilet roll. Every single squat rack has no pins to rerack plates so plates are all over the floor. Given that Barnsley, Batley etc have just had major refurbs i would urge JD gym to review the conditions of Huddersfield Gym and strongly consider doing something for the members paying to use these facilities monthly. The abductor machine is frequently broken, we have 4 stairmaster one of which is currently out of order, we have 2 smith machines one of which is frequently broken. It is just a shambles. Please see photos of the current state of the gym (this isn’t even the half of it)

Better after the refurb and addition of new cardio machines. I'd like more TV screens to watch the footie. A ladies only section would be amazing but I just use the studio when it's glutes day. Changing rooms are big and decent.
