Smyths Toys Superstores Leeds Bridge / Kirkstall

We purchased 2 cybex car seats on 22nd March 25. One of the car seats, the plastic bit on the side of the headrest came away from the fabric. We took this back to the retailer above after soeaning with cybex and they offered an exchange. When we was exchanging the lady advised the same car seat may not be available as it is the old model and therefore discontinued and reduced to £90 (we paid 141.99) I advised that upon original purchase the lady in store (theh said they knew her name but I don't know what it is she had short blonde hair), she advised me it was the newest model as the other model on display was less money at 139,99. When I told the lady this who was doing the exchange she said they could only exchange the other car seat if there was a fault, she eventually got a manager as I had been misold the car seat. When the manager came he asked me if there was a difference with the car seats sl I told him what they were (maybe the lady in the car seat department and he should know seen as they are giving advice regarding car seats in the first place). He advised that I had been misold and would exchange both seats for the newer model. Why the old model was more money than the newer doesn't make any sense ,... when the lady got the car seat down to show me and I asked is it the same fitment with isofix and top tether she said I think so I haven't looked at this new one yet. Why do you have staff on the baby department who say they specialise in car seat safety not knowing about car seats?? She also said when exchanging to the manager what am I putting for this one am I saying this Is damaged too? Rather than actually advising that the staff had made quite a big error . Maybe they wanted to sell me that one so they got rid of the stock either way I'm so disappointed. I have always bought both of my children's car seats / prams / furniture/ etc from smyths but today my trust has gone completely.

After spending over £100 and getting a taxi home to realise part of the baby walker is broken. Was clearly a return that they sold me as they had to go upstairs for it, it wasn’t on the shelves like the others.

It's a shame to give a 1 star review as I have been shopping for hot wheels and Lego at this shop for a good few years. Today I was informed by a friend that this store has 2 hot wheels chases (which are a rare find). He tried to purchase both but they refused to sell them to him as they were "saving 1 for a colleague" which simply is not good enough considering there are paying customers wanting to make purchases there and then. It's quite unfair that they allow colleagues to reserve items without payment. I then went to visit the store myself to try and purchase the 2nd chase, and was very bluntly told "they're gone" by the manager. This was very frustrating as they had either sold the 2nd chase to another customer (when we had been told it's for a colleague) or had simply lied and kept it behind the till for a colleague. Either way I feel cheated out of a chase. I'm genuinely not happy about this interaction as I have spent THOUSANDS here over the years. I would have expected a little more courtesy considering I have built rapport with some colleagues and even the manager. In the past, the same manager has told me "if you're after anything specific, let us know" and when I do let them know, this is the treatment I get. Genuinely disappointed, more with the manager than anything else. Yeah I may find a chase elsewhere but this is not the customer service I expected today from this shop.

I will be totally honest, but might not be others opinions,but it think it is a great place for parents and children to go for birthday and Christmas or anytime for presents or gifts
