Ever walk down the high street and notice something’s a bit different? Well, if you’re in Leeds, you’re about to see a big change. The TGJones store has had a massive makeover, and it’s not just a lick of paint. It's been transformed into a one-stop hub for pretty much everything you might need, from posting a parcel to picking up a birthday present. To show off its new look, the TGJones Leeds store is throwing a huge in-store event on Saturday, 22nd November, complete with freebies, music, and some brilliant product discounts. It sounds like the perfect way to kick off the Christmas shopping season.

A massive makeover for TGJones in Leeds

So, what’s all the fuss about? The TGJones store on Lands Lane has just finished a huge store refit. Think of it like one of those home makeover shows, but for a shop. The whole idea was to turn the store into a central hub for the local community, bringing five different brands together under one roof. Inside the familiar TGJones, which is known for its books, stationery, newspapers, and magazines, there are now dedicated sections for Hobbycraft, the legendary Toys ‘R’ Us, and the quirky card shop Scribbler. On top of all that, they’ve added a brand new, full-service Post Office. This isn't just a small counter in the corner; it's a major new postal hub for the city. The aim is to make life a bit easier, letting people get all their bits and pieces done in one trip.

What’s on at the big in-store event?

To celebrate the grand reopening after its store refit, TGJones is putting on a brilliant in-store event that’s completely free to attend. It’s all happening on Saturday, 22nd November, and things get going from 9 am. Anyone planning on going should probably set an alarm, because the first 50 people through the door will get a £25 gift card. That’s a pretty decent start to the day. This isn't just any old voucher; it's a gift card giveaway that could sort out a few early Christmas gifts.

But if you miss out on the gift card, don’t worry. There’s still plenty going on. Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect:

  • Product discounts: There will be a 20% discount on most things in the store. A perfect chance to grab some bargains on gifts, books, or stationery. (Just a heads-up, this doesn't include newspapers or magazines).
  • Free-to-play competitions: A ‘Spin to Win’ wheel will be there, giving everyone a chance to win some fantastic prizes. You could walk away with anything from children's toys to stationery sets or even goody bags.
  • Live entertainment: There will be live music playing to create a bit of a party atmosphere, and even a free caricaturist inside the store. Who wouldn’t want a funny drawing of themselves?

Basically, it’s a full-on celebration with prizes, music, and fun for everyone who pops in. The whole event is designed to welcome everyone back to the newly improved store and kickstart the festive feeling for the Christmas shopping season.

More than just books and stationery now

The biggest change at the TGJones store is the sheer amount of new stuff available. It’s always been the go-to place for books and stationery, but the new additions are a game-changer. The Hobbycraft section is a dream for anyone who loves making things. It’s packed with all sorts of crafting supplies, from clay-making tools and papercraft kits to knitting accessories. It's the perfect spot to find inspiration for a new hobby.

And for families, the return of Toys ‘R’ Us to the high street is huge news. The dedicated space will be full of children's toys from massive brands like LEGO, Pokémon, and Hot Wheels. It’s basically a mini toy paradise, making it much easier to find those must-have toys. Next to that, the Scribbler section offers a brilliant range of funny, unique greeting cards and quirky gifts you won’t find just anywhere.

Perhaps the most practical addition is the new Post Office. It's a proper, multi-counter branch offering the full range of services. This means people can post parcels, use banking services like depositing and withdrawing cash, and handle all their postal needs right there in the store. With Christmas coming up, having a central place to both buy and post gifts is incredibly handy. As Strategic Partnerships Manager Callum Bonfield says, it’s all about convenience. There's also a Print.Me kiosk, so you can print your photos straight from your phone while you're there.

A new look and a new vibe

It's not just about what's on the shelves. The whole store has been given a fresh look and feel. After the store refit, the layout has been changed to make it easier to wander around and find what you’re looking for. No more getting lost trying to find the magazines. They’ve also installed a new background music system, which is a small touch that makes a big difference. It helps create a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere while you shop. It’s all part of a bigger plan by TGJones, which has over 450 stores across the UK, to update its locations and make them better places to be.

What the bigwigs are saying

The people behind the big changes are really excited about what the new store means for Leeds. William Wren, the local Area Manager for TGJones, shared his thoughts:

“TGJones might be one of the newest names on Leeds’ high street, but it’s still the same trusted and reliable store that customers will remember. The investment in a new layout, new Post Office, and the addition of ranges from Hobbycraft, Toys ‘R’ Us and Scribbler will offer more choice and convenience for customers and reflects our ambition to become a hub on the high street.”

The partnership with the Post Office is also a key part of this new chapter. Callum Bonfield, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Post Office, added:

“We are delighted to be continuing our ever-growing partnership with TGJones through the addition of a new Post Office in Leeds. By working together, we are providing customers with our key products and services including the ability to deposit and withdraw cash over the counter and a choice of multiple parcel delivery partners to suit their needs whilst at the same time being able to shop for stationery, books, gifts and many other items.”

So, if you’re in Leeds on Saturday, 22nd November, it might be worth popping down to 3 - 7 Lands Lane to see what all the excitement is about. The party starts at 9 am!
