When some of the UK’s brightest entrepreneurs gathered in London on Thursday 9th October 2025 for the National Business Women’s Awards, there was one Yorkshire business in the spotlight — Neo Walk Ltd from York. The innovative mobility-aid company, founded by Lyndsay Mitcheson, was recognised among the country’s top businesswomen, taking Silver in the Northern England Business Woman of the Year category.

A big night for women in business

Hosted at the Leonardo Royal Tower Bridge in London, the ceremony brought together inspiring leaders from across the UK to celebrate resilience, creativity, and excellence in business. With 22 categories spanning everything from new enterprises to major corporations, the awards honour women who are driving change and breaking down barriers in their industries.

Event organiser Charlie Robertson summed up the night perfectly:

“The National Business Women’s Awards are about shining a spotlight on the extraordinary women driving success and change across the UK. This year’s winners and finalists have demonstrated resilience, creativity, and a determination to break barriers.”

Yorkshire innovation recognised

Yorkshire’s own Neo Walk Ltd stood out for its unique approach to inclusive design. The company creates stylish and colourful walking sticks, transforming mobility aids into fashion accessories that empower users with confidence and personality. Founded by Lyndsay Mitcheson, who uses a walking stick herself, Neo Walk’s mission is to change perceptions of disability and bring style, choice, and individuality to mobility support.

Based in Escrick near York, Neo Walk’s designs have already caught international attention — with customers from Australia to the US — and its recognition at the National Business Women’s Awards 2025 cements its reputation as a creative northern success story.

“We’re proud to fly the flag for Yorkshire and for people with disabilities everywhere,” said founder Lyndsay Mitcheson. “To be recognised nationally among so many amazing women is a huge honour.”

Leading women, local pride

While the overall Business Woman of the Year went to Joanna Lewis of Safecall, Neo Walk’s achievement highlights how Yorkshire continues to nurture pioneering, design-led businesses that make a global impact from local roots.

The full list of 2025 winners featured leaders from across the UK — from engineering and STEM to digital innovation and community impact — but it’s especially inspiring to see a Yorkshire-based company helping to redefine mobility, inclusion, and confidence.
