Hambleton Grange Care Home Hosts Joyful Animal Therapy Event for Residents

Residents at Hambleton Grange Care Home in Thirsk recently had a delightful afternoon filled with laughter and furry friends, thanks to a special event hosted by Primrose Care Farm. This unique afternoon was designed to bring joy and connection to the residents, showcasing the positive impact of animal therapy and outdoor activities.

Animal Visitors Create Fun Atmosphere

The garden at Hambleton Grange was transformed into a mini farm, where residents, staff, and families gathered to interact with a variety of animals. The event featured adorable donkeys, who quickly became the stars of the day as they munched on fresh carrots offered by the residents. An impressive turkey strutted around, making sure everyone noticed him, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Holly Bainbridge, Emma Dodsworth, and Abi Robinson from Primrose Care Farm played key roles in making this event a success. They not only brought the animals but also set up the garden experience, encouraging everyone to join in and have fun. This inclusive approach ensured that all residents, regardless of mobility, could participate in the joy of animal interactions.

Bringing Animals to All Residents

Understanding that not all residents could make it outside, Holly from Primrose Care Farm took the time to bring ducklings indoors to visit those who were unable to enjoy the garden activities. This thoughtful gesture ensured that every resident had the chance to experience the joy of animals, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all.

The feedback from residents was overwhelmingly positive. Lifestyle Manager Elaine Snowden remarked:

“It was a fantastic afternoon with everyone enjoying it in the beautiful weather and a perfect event to conclude our Care Home Open Week. The animals brought so much joy and created a really special experience for our residents, families, and staff.”
