Love music? Whether you’re into heart-stirring classical pieces or immersive sound experiences, Sheffield city centre is the place to be this February. Two special events—Romantic Piano Trios and Bach in the Round—promise to bring music lovers something truly memorable.

A Valentine’s Day concert to remember

On Friday, February 14, the Leonore Piano Trio will perform an evening of passion-filled classical music at Upper Chapel on Norfolk Street. This world-renowned ensemble is set to bring the music of Clara Schumann and her husband, Robert Schumann, to life. Their love story—one that overcame significant struggles in the 1830s—is reflected in their deeply emotional compositions.

Expect intense melodies, intricate harmonies, and stirring performances that perfectly capture the spirit of romance. Whether you’re a die-hard classical fan or just looking for something different to do on Valentine’s Day, this concert could be the perfect date night—or a great solo experience if you just love beautiful music.

🎟 Tickets: From £5 for students and under-35s.

Time: 7pm

📍 Location: Upper Chapel, Norfolk Street

Step inside the music of Bach

Ever wondered what it feels like to be inside a piece of music? Bach in the Round is giving Sheffielders the chance to do just that.

On Saturday, February 22, Music in the Round is offering a free, surround-sound experience that explores the music of JS Bach in a totally new way. Using cutting-edge sound technology, fragments of Benjamin Nabarro’s performance of Bach’s Sonata No.1 in G minor have been recorded, layered, and looped to create a truly immersive musical world.

Visitors to Upper Chapel will hear Bach’s music played through eight loudspeakers, creating a 360-degree sound experience. Alongside this, Benjamin Nabarro will perform live at 1pm and 7pm, giving audiences a chance to experience both the digital and real-world magic of Bach’s compositions.

🎟 No tickets needed—just turn up!

Experience open: 10:30am – 12:30pm & 3:30pm – 6pm
