Looking for some Halloween fun to make the most of the October half-term? Come to the Tropical Butterfly House near Sheffield for a day of spooky surprises and magical activities the whole family will love.

From witchy trails to broomstick training this event has it all for a Halloween to remember.

Witches and Wizards Trail

Meet some magical creatures along the way as you follow the Witches and Wizards Trail. Kids and adults can search for clues hidden among the brightly coloured potion bottles to crack the magic code and graduate from the School of Magic (and Mischief). Whether you're a witch, wizard or just a fan of magical creatures this trail is for you if you love a good adventure.

And look out for the Majestic Morpho, a mischievous wizard who will pop up and surprise you with his magic tricks and spooky spells. As you make your way around the park you can even visit the witch's cabin for a sneaky peek inside or take a scary tractor-trailer ride around the haunted grounds if you dare!

Magical Shows and Activities

Once you've done the trail the fun doesn't stop. At the Magical School of Curious Creatures show you'll be amazed by the curious (and sometimes creepy) animals on stage. Then let the kids have a go at broomstick training - because who wouldn't want to fly like a witch or wizard?

And for some bubbly fun pop along to the Giant Bubble Display - a favourite with little ones and big ones who love a bit of messy magic.

Dress up for a Spell

Got a witch's hat gathering dust or a pumpkin costume that's been waiting all year? Come dressed in your best Halloween costume and you could win a spooky prize! Whether you're a ghoul, ghost or goblin come in costume and join in the magical fun of the day. There's also a wizard and witch themed colouring competition where you can drop your masterpieces into the Owl Post Box to be in with a chance to win.

Daily Animal Encounters and Creepy Crawlies

Halloween wouldn't be Halloween without a few creepy crawlies would it? Get up close (if you dare!) to some of the park's gruesome animals during the daily keeper talks. These talks are full of weird and wonderful facts that will give you the heebie jeebies while you learn more about the creatures.

For little adventurers who still have energy to burn there are sandpits, play parks and even a Dino Trail to explore. Whether you like dinosaurs or deadly spiders the Tropical Butterfly House has something to keep you entertained all day.

Yummy Frightful Food

After all that running around you’ll be hungry. Luckily there are plenty of spooky treats on offer. Try a pumpkin spice hot drink, monster milkshakes or pre-book one of the themed kids’ picnic boxes. These are great for keeping your mini witches and wizards energised for the day.

Event Info and Dates

The Halloween event at the Tropical Butterfly House runs from Saturday 19th October to Monday 4th November and is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Normal admission charges apply and tickets can be booked online along with Halloween treats.

So if you’re looking for a magical day out this October grab your broomstick, put on your wizard’s cloak and head to the Tropical Butterfly House for a frightful family day!

Conservation and Wildlife at the Tropical Butterfly House

While you’re having all the Halloween fun don’t forget the Tropical Butterfly House helps wildlife too. With over 142 species living at the park—from beautiful butterflies to mischievous mammals—it’s more than just a day of spooky fun.

A portion of your admission goes towards the upkeep of their wildlife conservation sites across South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire where they protect native species like red deer, barn owls and even rare tree sparrows.
