Had the misfortune of a rather unpleasant interaction today @ Market Cross Jewellers in Thirsk. Popped into the store and asked to see an item in the window (the only earrings in said window) - I was asked "which ones" and "could I go outside (in a monsoon) to point them out". There was only one set in the window! I obliged, then asked what they could tell me about them - clarity, material, history, etc etc - I was met with a disgruntled look, an eye roll and a "what do you mean, I've no idea" - like they seemed surprised you'd want specific info on a piece they're selling. A simple "we don't know much about these" would've sufficed. I then asked for a best price to buy them today - usual when purchasing - and if they did not wish to discount, all they needed to say was exactly that - met with a scoff, another eye roll before saying "they've been discounted already" - funny that, as the lady didn't seem to know what the item even was 2 minutes prior, and she didn't check any sort of system! Guys - you are selling items. It is to be expected a prospective purchaser would want information about a product. Know your market, engage with customers and simply be polite to those trying to buy. No matter the price, even if excellent, due to how I was treated today on 09/12/2025, I'd never shop with you. It is not always the case that a deal can happen if a shop (or a purchaser) can't make it work - and that is totally fine - but talking down to your customer base and being generally impolite during a quiet time of year when I was the only purchaser in the store - yikes. Seems from previous reviews about customer care I'm not alone in experiencing unpleasantness.
Good quality merchandise at a reasonable price and a fair price given for my old gold. On the whole it was a pleasant experience and the staff were polite and friendly.
Pandora approved shop. Very helpful staff and some lovely things a bit different to other jewellers. Reasonably priced.
I came in with a ring to be valued for sale straight away the had a look disappeared and came back and said they could offer 140 cash now and i nearly LOL then they came back and ask what i wanted as the boss need to have a rough idea when gold id at a world high to be offered 9carot price 39 pounds a gram instead of 79 per gram at 18 carrot show underhand tactics and misleading so I left and then was phoned with a different tact 300 or 400 for a voucher when I was in another shop in ripon to be told how they pray on the fact people are desperate for cash it miss leading and horrific practice I'm so tempted to call trading standards
i would give no stars if i could i sent a vintage watch away with a £40 non refundable payment and was told i would get an estimate and they would then deduct the £40 off the cost to fix the watch. i have now been told 3 weeks later they don't fix vintage watches the offer was then to send to switzerland and take 3 months plus in effect i've paid £40 to be told they don't fix vintage watches i challenged this and was told i understood the £40 was non refundable- personally i find this disgraceful customer service
