|York City have strengthened their attacking options with the loan signing of Junior Luamba from Salford City. The 21-year-old forward will be with the Minstermen for the rest of the season, adding pace and power to their frontline.
So, who is Junior Luamba, and what can York City fans expect from him?

From Oldham Athletic to Salford City
Luamba started his football journey at Oldham Athletic, progressing through their academy before making his mark in the first team. While at Oldham, he played in both League Two and the National League, scoring two goals in 32 appearances. Not bad for a young forward finding his feet in senior football.
In 2023, his performances earned him a move to Salford City, where he’s made 37 appearances across all competitions. He’s been involved in six goals during his time there, showing glimpses of his attacking potential.
What Adam Hinshelwood thinks
York City manager Adam Hinshelwood is excited about what Luamba can bring to the team.
"He's a different option for us with his pace and power. Junior's a really exciting prospect—he will give us a new dimension in the wide areas."
That suggests we’ll see Luamba operating out wide, using his speed to stretch defences and create chances.
What This Means for York City
York City are looking to push up the table, and adding a young, hungry forward like Luamba could be a smart move. His experience in League Two and the National League means he knows how to handle tough defences, and at 21, he’s still got plenty of room to grow.
York fans will be hoping he hits the ground running. Welcome to York City, Junior! 🚀⚽
