Welcome to Yorkshire

|Ever wondered if the companies people use every day are doing anything good for the planet? Well, some of them are doing properly brilliant things. A great example is the team-up between Timetastic, a company that makes staff holiday planning a breeze, and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust (YDMT), a charity that looks after the stunning green spaces of the north. They've decided to extend their partnership all the way through to 2028. It's fantastic news for the people, the landscape, and the wildlife of the Yorkshire Dales because it means more support for loads of important projects.
A partnership that's more than just business
So, what exactly are these two organisations? On one hand, there's Timetastic. Lots of businesses use their software to keep track of annual leave and staff absences, ditching messy paper forms for something much simpler. On the other, there's the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, or YDMT for short. Since 1997, this charity has been working its socks off on conservation projects to protect the beautiful Dales.
Since 2022, they've been working together. Timetastic has been providing some much-needed cash to help YDMT run its community-focused initiatives. This isn't just a one-off thing; it's a proper, long-term partnership built on a shared belief that working together can make a real difference. This kind of collaborative action is exactly what’s needed to protect our natural spaces for future generations. It’s a powerful example of how businesses can support vital work within their local communities.
What does this actually mean for the Dales?
It's all well and good talking about partnerships, but what's actually happening on the ground? The money from Timetastic helps fund some amazing projects. For example:
- The 'Seed to Sapling' scheme: This is all about conservation. It focuses on growing trees from local seeds and planting them to create new woodlands. These woodlands are essential for wildlife and help combat climate change.
- The 'People and the Dales' programme: This project is brilliant. It helps people from disadvantaged communities, who might not otherwise get the chance, to get out and enjoy the green spaces of the Dales. It’s about making nature accessible to everyone.
The renewed partnership means the YDMT can do even more. They can expand these projects and dream up new ones to protect the delicate landscape, from its wild woodlands to its beautiful meadows. The impact of this continued support is massive, helping to safeguard nature for years to come. The goal is to protect not just the landscape, but also the precious wildlife that calls it home. These sorts of projects ensure the long-term health of the entire ecosystem.
Putting your money where your mouth is
Timetastic isn’t just picking a charity at random. The company is seriously committed to doing good. It's a certified B-Corp, which is a special status for businesses that meet very high standards of social and environmental performance. Basically, they care about more than just making a profit. They are one of a growing number of B Corporations showing that business can be a force for good.
On top of that, Timetastic is a member of 1% for the Planet. This means they've pledged to give 1% of their annual revenue to environmental causes. That’s a huge commitment and shows they’re serious about their environmental responsibilities. It’s no wonder they were drawn to YDMT's grassroots work protecting woodlands and meadows. It's a perfect match. In fact, Timetastic even offers discounts to other ethical organisations, like registered charities and Fair Tax Mark holders, encouraging other businesses to follow suit. Being a B-Corp is a clear signal of their dedication.
Oliver Higgenbotham, the MD of Timetastic, is clearly chuffed about extending the partnership. He said:
"We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with YDMT. Their work not only safeguards nature but also creates transformative experiences for young people and empowers communities. Over the next three years, our unrestricted donations will help fund projects across all areas of YDMT’s work, supporting the people, landscape, and wildlife of this special region."
Fancy doubling your donation?
Here’s a really cool bit. Timetastic is also getting involved in YDMT’s Christmas "Let It Grow" campaign. If anyone makes a donation to the charity between the 22nd and 30th of November 2025, the amount will be doubled. Timetastic, alongside The Big Give, will match the public's donations. This means every pound given has twice the impact, helping to fund even more fantastic conservation work.
It’s an incredible opportunity for people who care about the environment to make their support go further. These doubled donations will be essential for funding the many projects YDMT runs to protect the region’s unique wildlife and natural beauty.
Rich Hore, a Project Officer at YDMT, explained just how important this support is.
"Thanks to Timetastic’s support, we’ve delivered several impactful projects over the past three years. As a small and innovative charity, this extended partnership is crucial to helping us achieve our wider strategic goals and continue our work to conserve and protect the Yorkshire Dales."
Why these partnerships matter
When businesses and charities team up, magic happens. This partnership between Timetastic and the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust is a perfect example. It shows how companies can play a massive part in supporting their local communities and protecting the environment. For businesses, it’s a way to fulfil their social and environmental responsibilities and connect with customers who care about these issues.
For charities like YDMT, this support is a lifeline. It allows them to plan for the future and continue their vital work. It's a win-win situation that has a lasting, positive impact on the world. It’s all about collaborative action leading to meaningful change for nature, wildlife, and people. The ongoing support ensures the long-term success of crucial conservation projects across the Dales.
