Welcome to Yorkshire
News • October 28th, 2024
|Filey Bay whisky, Yorkshire’s pride, is now pouring in Dutch bars and on Dutch shelves thanks to a partnership with De Monnik Dranken, a 4th generation family business that has been handling premium spirits for over 100 years.
For both the Spirit of Yorkshire distillery and De Monnik Dranken this is a match made in heaven – two family run businesses with a passion for quality and tradition.

Family businesses working together across borders
This is more than just new whisky for Dutch drinkers. It’s about values, family roots and legacy. David Thompson, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery said working with De Monnik Dranken feels like a natural fit.
“De Monnik Dranken truly get our ‘field to bottle’ process which is at the heart of our whisky’s flavour and heritage.”
Filey Bay whisky: Yorkshire abroad
Filey Bay, already popular in the UK and available in 11 countries, has a unique character. Made from 100% homegrown barley (a rarity even for single malts) its quality stands out. Working with De Monnik Dranken fits with the Yorkshire distillery’s aim to share their authentic, locally rooted whisky-making process globally.
A first for De Monnik Dranken
Luuk Olde Monnikhof, Managing Director of De Monnik Dranken said
“We have expanded our portfolio over the years but this is our first English whisky. Filey Bay has the premium quality and rich character that fits perfectly with our existing range of spirits.”
Olde Monnikhof hopes this family to family collaboration will grow and flourish.
The partnership launches at the Art of Drinks show in Amsterdam on October 26. So, for Dutch whisky lovers, Yorkshire’s finest is coming soon.
