|Thinking about a getaway? Sometimes a proper British holiday is just the ticket, especially one with salty air and sandy toes. For anyone planning memorable UK escapes, the well-known holiday park provider Away Resorts has some brilliant news. As of 17th February 2026, the company is rolling out upgrades across its UK parks – including major investment in Cornwall as well as improvements at one of its Yorkshire locations in Thirsk.
A proper Cornish getaway at St Ives Bay
Let’s be honest, Cornwall has a certain magic to it. St Ives Bay, with its stunning beach and epic ocean views, is a top spot for anyone wanting that classic coastal break. And now, Away Resorts is putting a huge £1.2 million into making its St Ives Bay Beach Resort even more special.
The biggest news is the arrival of swish new accommodation, including an exclusive collection known as the Butterfly Lodges. Designed to make the most of those incredible Atlantic views, these lodges feature floor-to-ceiling windows and can sleep up to six guests with flexible bed setups – ideal for families or group getaways.

Following strong demand since their introduction in summer 2024, more Shadow Wood Lodges are also being added. Sleeping up to eight guests, these are designed to blend into the natural surroundings while offering modern interiors and a relaxed coastal feel, all within easy reach of the beach.
Nathan Roots, General Manager at Away Resorts St Ives Bay Beach Resort, said:
“St Ives Bay isn’t just a destination. It’s one of those rare places that gets under your skin and into your heart. It’s no surprise guests keep coming back year after year, craving that unique blend of wild ocean views, open skies and laid-back Cornish charm - far from the everyday grind! With these new additions, we wanted to build on what makes St Ives Bay so irresistible.
The Butterfly and Shadow Wood accommodations are designed for people who want to get away from everyday life and are dreaming of salty air, sea breezes and slow mornings with a coffee overlooking the sea. They’re all about comfort, calm and connection, not just to nature, but to the joy of unwinding properly. Whether you’re chasing coastal sunsets, planning beach picnics or simply looking for your perfect relaxed escape, this is the ideal base for a break by the sea.”
Yorkshire stays at Filey Bay and Woodland Lakes
Alongside these headline upgrades in Cornwall, Away Resorts also offers two fantastic locations right here in Yorkshire for those looking to stay closer to home.
On the coast, Away Resorts Filey Bay Holiday Park, Muston Road, Filey, North Yorkshire, YO14 0HU, delivers traditional seaside breaks just moments from the sweeping sands of Filey Beach – perfect for bucket-and-spade summer holidays or bracing winter walks along the Yorkshire coast.
Further inland, guests can enjoy a more tranquil countryside escape at Woodland Lakes Lodges, Woodland Lakes, Carlton Miniott, Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 4NJ. Set among peaceful lakes and green countryside in the Hambleton district, the park is ideal for relaxed lodge stays, fishing breaks, or rural getaways within easy reach of the North York Moors.
Woodland Lakes itself is also benefitting from investment this winter, with a £120,000 overhaul on selected accommodation including new furniture, fittings, and carpets to give lodges a fresh, modern feel. The Chestnut Lodges have even been renamed Pine Lodges following their makeover.

Upgrades happening across the UK
The improvements at St Ives Bay form part of a wider programme of Winter 2025/26 upgrades across several Away Resorts parks.
At Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, a £2.8 million investment will introduce new 10-berth Serpentine Lodges with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, alongside the arrival of the popular Shadow Wood accommodation style.
Meanwhile, Piperdam Leisure Resort in Scotland is receiving an £800,000 refresh, including updated interiors, new decking, and private hot tubs, with selected lodges such as the Sidlaw Lodge being relaunched with a new look and feel.
Taken together, these thoughtful upgrades – from stylish new coastal lodges in Cornwall to refreshed lakeside accommodation near Thirsk and classic seaside stays in Filey – highlight Away Resorts’ continued focus on providing high-quality, comfortable, and characterful places to stay across the UK. Whether it’s windswept coastal walks or slow mornings beside a private fishing lake, Yorkshire holidaymakers have some excellent options right on their doorstep.
