News • August 6th, 2025
|Get ready, because something massive is happening in Halifax. The countdown is officially on for Calderdale Pride, and with less than two weeks to go until the big day on Saturday 16th August 2025, the full line-up has just been announced. And honestly, it looks brilliant. This isn't just any old get-together; it's a huge, free community celebration held at the amazing Dean Clough, a place that's become a real hub for fantastic events.
Each year, this spectacular event draws in more than 25,000 people, turning the historic site into a vibrant explosion of music, colour, and fun. It promises a full day of entertainment for everyone, from families with kids to groups of mates looking for a great day out. This year, the theme is The Wizard of Oz, with the tagline 'there's no place like home', which feels just about perfect for a celebration that's all about belonging and community.

So, what's the big deal about Calderdale Pride?
Think of it as a huge party with a purpose. Calderdale Pride is an annual event that celebrates the local LGBTQ+ community, but its doors are wide open to absolutely everyone, including friends, families, and allies. The main goal is to create a space where people feel safe, included, and celebrated for who they are. It's a powerful way to bring the whole community together, promoting equality and understanding while having a fantastic time.
For ten hours, the entire Dean Clough site will be buzzing. Imagine live music echoing around the old mill buildings, over 20 stalls from charities and local sellers to browse, and loads of different food and drink options to keep everyone going. It's more than just a festival; it's a statement that in this part of Yorkshire, everyone is welcome. And the best part? It's completely free to attend, which is pretty amazing for an event of this scale.
The star-studded line up
Right, let's get to the juicy bit: who is actually performing? The organisers have pulled together an incredible line up that mixes massive tribute acts with brilliant local talent. A tribute act, in case you're wondering, is a performer who looks and sounds just like a famous star, giving you the next best thing to seeing the real deal. Headlining the entire event is top Halifax DJ Pete Monsoon, who is sure to get the party started. But he's not alone. The stage will also be graced by some of the best tribute acts in the business. Here's who you can expect to see on the big day:
- Forever Freddie: Get ready to sing along to Queen's greatest hits. This tribute act to the legendary Freddie Mercury is performed by Joe Tilly, one of the UK's top showmen. Expect all the swagger and vocal power of the man himself. It's a chance to see a Freddie tribute in Halifax!
- Lauren G as Taylor Swift: For all the Swifties out there, this is one you won't want to miss. Lauren G is a leading Taylor Swift tribute, and she even made an appearance on ITV's X Factor.
- Donna Marie as Lady Gaga: Prepare for some pop extravagance with an internationally acclaimed tribute to the one and only Lady Gaga.
- Marigold Addams as Jane McDonald: A truly unique drag tribute to the "Queen of Cruise" herself, bringing a bit of West Yorkshire glamour to the stage.
This line up of top-tier tribute acts means there's a performance for every generation of music fan. It's a brilliant way to experience the magic of these huge stars, right here in the local community.
More than just music: drag, choirs, and local heroes
But the entertainment doesn't stop with the tribute acts. Calderdale Pride is also a massive platform for the incredible talent found right here in the local area. The event shines a spotlight on the vibrant local scene, including some amazing drag performers. The Queens of Halifax, a trio of queens who live and work in Calderdale, will be there, alongside Shirley Valentine, a larger-than-life performer from the trans community and winner of the Mamas Drag Battle 2024 in Leeds. LegzAnya, a Yorkshire-based drag artist and DJ, will also be bringing her unique energy.
It's a real mix of performers. There's Channy, a UK pop artist who has supported huge names like Olly Murs and Jess Glynne. The Trilogies, a slick three-piece harmony group, will be there with their sharp dance moves. And representing the local singer-songwriter scene are Todd Wilson, a Halifax native, and Bea Badillia, a young Filipino singer from the area whose music has already been played on BBC Introducing. The Orange Box Choir, a community choir for young people based at the community centre in Halifax, will also be performing, showing that talent in this town starts young. These acts are the heart and soul of the event, showcasing the creative spirit of the people who call this place home.
Making your day easy at Dean Clough
Planning a day out with thousands of other people can sometimes feel like a bit of a headache, but the organisers have thought of everything to make it simple. The Dean Clough site itself is a fantastic venue. It's a massive 22-acre former carpet factory that's been transformed into a bustling destination with offices, shops, galleries, and restaurants. It's located right on the edge of Halifax town centre, making it easy to get to from around the region, including places like Leeds and Manchester.
Getting there is a breeze. There's free parking available on the site all weekend, including on the day of the event. For those travelling by train, a handy shuttle bus will be running from Halifax station directly to the venue. And for anyone wanting to make a weekend of it, there's even a Travelodge right there. Once on site, visitors will find loads of Dean Clough's own cafes and shops open, plus a special children's art trail to keep the little ones entertained. Every detail has been considered to ensure the day is as fun and stress-free as possible for the thousands of people expected to attend this landmark event for the community, a community that's growing every year.
