Stayed for 1night at new year with friends. Rooms are of need of an update, one of our rooms had no heating, staff were made aware, but nothing was done. Our room had no teas/coffees which was very disappointing, didn't realise until the following morning. The breakfast was nice with plenty of choice. The location of the hotel was a short walk into old town.
Room was lovely but the curtain rail broke as soon as I went in (I managed to fix it) and the shower was extremely lacking in power. The bathroom kept making noises throughout the night which kept waking me up. Disappointing when I’d booked a premier plus room. The evening meal was ok overall but the cheesecake was warm so was quite an unusual experience. The breakfast was advertised from 6:30-10:30 and the lady said there wasn’t much food left and if i wanted “5 plates of food they wouldn’t be cooking more”. It was very strange because there was plenty of food left so it seemed like she was just trying to put me off, and the 5 plates comment was offensive and she said it loudly so everyone could hear. I felt I had to rush and was uncomfortable. If I had gone down at 10:15 I could have understood this. Finally, I wanted some advice from reception and was ringing the buzzer but no-one came.
I’ve always been a big fan of premier inns as they are convenient, located in great places and have lovely team members, I haven’t stopped in the city centre one for a while and I can say it has gone down hill a bit, the food was a little disappointing, the members of staff were lovely, but the food wasn’t great, uncooked falafals, cold chicken wings and the pudding and custard was cold in the middle. Such a shame as it could have been so nice. The rooms are overly hot and the air con is pretty useless. Must say the staff are lovely though, so well done to them.
Inexpensive, basic and a little tired. But in a great spot towering over the area with commanding views over the rivers Hull and Humber. Short walk into town. Oddly, reception and restaurant are on 7th floor but it makes for a great experience with great views. Staff all friendly and helpful. Parking is over the road and was £7 for an overnight stay. Would definitely recommend.
The staff at this Premier Inn were great (no complaints here), but the room itself was terrible. I don’t usually bother to leave negative reviews of places, but I wish I’d known how run down the rooms at this hotel were as I would not have stayed here. I’ve stayed in many Premier Inns and this is the only one I’ve felt this way about. Just very tired, grim rooms - especially bathrooms (picture is panel below sink which had fallen off). Well overdue a refurb.
