Friendly, accommodating and professional staff. Carvery temperature was questionable, but was rectified with a refreshed meal. Meat quality is excellent in similarity to others in the brand. Having visited other Brewers Fayres e.g. Castlewood and Lock Keeper ones in Derbyshire, we could easily compare those to the Turnpike and there was a profound difference in temperature of the carvery items...
First time going to The Turnpike and I'll tell you what. Its not the last time either. Even though it looked like they were under staffed the service was second to none. Smiling happy and nothing was to much trouble. The food we didn't know what to expect for £5 a main. We were not disappointed at all. The girl had pizza and for the money it was value for money. I had the 5oz gammon and paid for the upgraded to the 7oz. I dont think the kitchen got the notice. Other than the size all the food was top notch. Thank Turnpike we will be back for more. Breakfast next.
Food was very nice it came out piping hot. I was very impressed. I ordered the beef and ale pie and that was very tasty. The staff were friendly as well. Would definitely recommend here.
Greeted with a smile by friendly staff who were only too happy to take us to our reserved table. They asked if we had any special requirements, allergies etc. They were so attentive throughout, we were allowed to eat our meals in peace without being disturbed. The only downside to the evening was the fact my husband has sensory issues which we were catered for by way of a quiet area but some adults allowed their children to run around screaming which made us leave early. The staff and manager were in no way to blame for this as it is a family friendly establishment but it would have been nice if the parents of the children showed a little respect for others dining this evening. The meal was superb, my steak cooked to perfection, my husband said the mini trio of pies was amazing too compliments to the chef. Mrs Kay illingworth 6pm booking 17/02/24
Went for a family meal.on Boxing Day. Menu was very limited and not a lot of choice and what was offered didn't really appeal to me. As we'd paid a deposit we all had to order on the same bill to get our deposit off the bill but the ordering process was a bit of a shambles. We all went to the bar to order but they ended up putting the order on two separate tills delaying other people getting served. The young las that served me was very calm, cheerful and helpful but there was another older woman who looked like a supervisor or manager serving us had a face like thunder rather rude and very abrupt. I went for a soup starter which wasn't to my taste but it was hot, for mains Rump steak and chips which was cooked how I asked and hot and mince pie sundae for dessert. The food was ok nothing to shout about really but was hot when served but took forever to get to us. The venue was clean and tidy. I don't live close to this pub so wouldn't go out my to return if I'm honest.
